Theyre really expensive. I dont really think it matters much. Its different than a car to me. Ive only lived in a brand new house once. It was much different than an older one. I most likely wont ever again. Because I tend to rent these days. And if I rent, someone has almost definitely lived there before. And buying space for a house or a house thats not built probably cost too much for me. If I could even find them.

I am, but I don't own it. Social housing, a new-build apartment building, and I am the first tenant to have lived in my specific apartment. Mostly because the local authority decided to "regenerate" the area & that meant demolishing all the old apartments & replacing them with new ones (for the most part); those of us who had been long-term tenants in the demolished buildings had first call on the new ones.

Yes, my family got our house built from scratch. The builders were Italian and so our we, so they gave us a break on everything, haha. Apparently there used to be some mob activity out here a long time ago...the family that made up the company may or may not have been involved :P
Probably just rumors...

I'm the second person to live in my condo, which I own. Its about 12 years old. It doesn't really matter to me, tbh, especially since the place was renovated before we got it, with a brand new kitchen too.

A better question might be if anyone has ever died in your home. Then you might have a haunted house.

I'm not a fan of new builds really, they don't feel as "homely" to me

Can buy a cheap new house for CAD $250,000 in the city. But you're getting the base model and appliances. Probably street parking, too.

Not necessarily? Homes feel a bit more structurally secure when you know somebody before you had lived there for years.

I'm more comfortable with a used home than a used car.

tbh, designing a home myself would probably be the only scenario in which a new home is really attractive. And, while I took some architectural courses in high school, I'd want to consult an architect even before figuring out any structural issues.

I kinda envy that. Must be nice to have those kinds of roots.

My grandparents were the first to live here. They bought the house upon completion in 1948. My great grandmother actually moved in after my great grandfather passed away.

We (my two brothers, my parents and myself) lived here with my grandparents. My mom passed away, dad moved away, I bought the house with my wife, and we have two kids now.
