I skipped work to go see that movie. It really was accurate to how our D and D sessions went. (as in off the rails)

Your the first person I've seen other than our Sci-fi club in High school who liked it.

I enjoyed it at the time, mainly because of the big Crystal Maze reference. And the CGI Beholder was cool.

In retrospect, though... it was shit.

It was bomb. What class was the main character? A bard? A scoundrel?

Obviously elf girl was a ranger. His buddy was a thief. The girl a mage. But what was he?

Then he is a bard.

They even say he doesn't understand his power. He uses magic reading the scroll and going through the magic barrier to get the rod. And he can command the dragons using the rod. He clearly has magical powers.

The 2nd edition bard was explicitly a jack-of-all-trade class, with a limited selection of thief skills (pick pockets, detect noise, climb walls, and read languages) a limited wizard spell progression, access to proficiency in any weapon, and some special bardic music abilities and bardic lore.

That's my boy right there.

He hates mages, but it is made explicitly clear he doesn't know who he is.

I'm going with Bard, just because in my fantasy worlds, I like to have bards be an analogue of modern journalists, so it makes sense for Jimmy Olsen to be one.
