They recently made several changes to the ToS including
- Only one viewing of movies
- Only one phone is allowed
- Ticket stub verification
- 4 movies a month for any new subscribers

Of course they put a PR spin on it as "To encourage you to see different movies"
But we all know it's because they're losing too much money to be sustainable

Also in the companies own audit report, investors noted that it was in danger of bankruptcy/going out of business

it's coming up on a year now

by them incorporating these ToS changes, it's unlikely that they will get a huge number of new subscribers

he also thinks he will get 5 million subscribers by the end of the year, hahahaha nope

It was a good ride though. I'm salty about the 4 movies thing, but most months I don't even see 4. It's just some months are packed and I'll have to plan everything out better.

Also I can't see IW 6 times wtf

So glad to have unlimited movies still. The recent changes don't bother me. I never see a movie twice in the theater

its not so unlimited anymore though, and I'm pretty sure they're moving everyone to that 1 movie a week thing soon enough.

Unless your theater has 30 new movies a month, its more like... 5 movies a month

do people really want to see Super Troopers 2 or that Bollywood stuff that saturates the theater?

Nah. They did it because people were giving it to their kids / family so they could see the same movie across multiple days.

The intent was always one person per account period.

Tbh I dont see why theaters hate this so much. They make all their money on snacks anyway and moviepass buys the tickets from them. >_>

Most theaters don't hate it. The problem is that moviepass is losing too much money.

I can guarantee you movie pass doesn't give two shits about what you do with your daily check in ticket, if you rip it up or give it to a guy on the street for free.

They do care when people visit the movies once a day because now its costing them a lot of money. That's what the ticket stub verification and no repeat viewings is for, to curb power users, and it was reintroduced during the summer blockbuster season because they will be sucked dry by everyone getting tickets for Infinity War, Deadpool 2, Solo, Jurassic World, etc..

because movie theaters understand that moviepass isn't sustainable with it's business model but that having it exist for any amount of time like it did suddenly devalues the hell out of movie tickets.

for someone used to paying 10 bucks and month and seeing ~15 movies, why would they suddenly want to start paying 12 bucks for a single ticket after moviepass shuts down? the perceived value of the ticket has changed and the theaters don't like that.

would totally still do it if it were available at a cheap price($10/m qualifies).

it's easy to see how unlimited repeats wouldn't be sustainable and just watching more than one movie a month pays for it.

i don't understand this?

you can't sign in on another phone
say you forgot your phone, it died, etc..
you can only log in to another phone once every 30 days
probably not a big deal for most people right away, but situations will arise.

I hope it incites people into actually going to the movies and checking in to literally every movie, just to cost MP money. That or people cancelling would be good.
