The first pawn you get, Rook, is voiced by the same guy who did Nazeem in Skyrim, so if you ever wanted to pick Nazeem up and hurl him off a cliff, you can essentially do that in Dragon's Dogma.

Also: archery vocations in this game kick a lot of ass.

It's funny you made this topic, because I had played about 5 hours years ago, and picked it up again today
So I'm not far in the game and need tips too

Almost everything hates Fire element. elemental weakness will help you a ton for all fights. Learn boss weakness spots. Cyclops eye, chimera tail, golem runes etc. for me, my pawn is almost never the same class as me. they are almost ranged support like bow or caster until late game or you play ranged offense.

Fire element works best early on, holy later in the game (except for the Dragon itself)

Your pawns will let you know when they're all wet, just in case you didn't happen to notice them voluntarily walking into shallow water

Do NOT worry about completing all the side quests your first time through. The game is genuinely intended to be played several times via NG+, completing more and more of the optional stuff each time around.

Focus on optimal build. Wreck as magic archer later. Theres a place to max out not ecen too far in.

This game sucks for like 5 hours and then its good.

Get rusted bow pawns...

Pawns are talkative morons who weren't programmed to not be REALLY repetitive.

So if you play long enough you will get really tired of hearing things like, "Wolves hunt in packs" "It seems all roads lead to Gran Soren" " 'tis a troubling foe" "Goblins, Arisen!" "Their kind ill like fire and ice both!" and so on.

And "aught" in general.

So right now I'm about to max strider and then was going to switch to assassin. Would this be optimal for now?

I pondered a two-handed dude because two-handers are cool but they look sooo slow.

Also I really enjoy is thus far. I made it to Gran Soren last night and played for a few hours past that. Tried escorting a guy to a place far away and got knocked off a mountain right near the end location. This resulted in the game reloading all the way back at Gran Soren. How lovely.

Honestly, I love this game. I'm not super far into it, but its in my pile of games I play when I'm not going for something story heavy. Fewer and fewer games interest me each year as I get older, so I'm been stockpiling the games that do interest me for the cold winters ahead.

But yeah..I love my badass Pawn. <3

There are two things I quickly learned from playing Dragon's Dogma.

1. Save often because the game wont do it for you. You can quickly save by pressing option or select at the pause screen.

2. It's generally not worth legitimately doing the escort quests, it is much easier to visit the escort spot first, drop a portcrystal, and ferrystone your quarry to their location.

I'll never forget the day I learned Pawns don't need oil for their lanterns. Turned around and saw the little shit throwing their flasks of oil at a goblin.

They wasted my oil, so I fed them to the brine.

Good news! They only shut down the 360/ps3 servers. I read the Steam article incorrectly. The PC servers are up, I just had to go into options and turn it to "Online." (For some reason it defaulted to Offline)

does that mean that if I had a 360 save file, that I can't continue where I left off on the One? I'd have to start over? I think I had a cloud save from the 360.

No it just means you can't use the online functionality of the game anymore.
