Hannity's statement from the WSJ:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/sean-hannity-was-a-client-of-trump-lawyer-michael-cohen-1523908997

In a text message Monday, Mr. Hannity said he and Mr. Cohen have been friends a long time.

In a separate statement Monday, Mr. Hannity said Mr. Cohen has never represented me in any matter. I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees. He added that while the two have had brief discussions about legal matters, those talks never involved any matter between me and a third-party.

Speaking on his radio show Monday, Mr. Hannity said he hadnt paid Mr. Cohen legal fees but that I might have handed him 10 bucks and asked for attorney-privilege on certain issues.

Seems like a non-issue unless there was something criminal being discussed between Cohen and Hannity that he was trying to cover.

Seems more like Hannity is throwing him under the bus. If Cohen claims to represent Sean and is lying, he's committed perjury.

If he actually does represent him, then this rabbit hole just got 10 feet deeper.

What would be the perjury grounds? Hannity said on the radio that he did the old "here's $10, can I ask you a question as a client" routine. That's enough to justify Cohen's claims.

That bolded part is what seems questionable. 10 bucks? Plus it's weird they'd reveal him as a client if this were the case.

"I've known Michael a long, long time. Let me be very clear to the media. Michael never represented me in any matter. I never retained him in the traditional sense as retaining a lawyer. I never received an invoice from Michael. I never paid legal fees to Michael," Hannity said.

So he's not a client.

But:

"But I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective," he added. "And I assume that those conversations were attorney-client confidential."

He assumed he was a client.

There's a lot of mud in the water.

Depends on how you want to look at it, honestly. It doesn't seem like there was ever a written engagement or that Hannity ever paid retainers, but he did do the "here's $10 so we can talk under client-privilege" routine. It's kind of a matter of semantics, but I don't really see how it's relevant to anything. I do agree Cohen is probably overstating his prominence as a lawyer a bit, but that's not enough for perjury.

I love the people who brought us Gamergate telling us this isn't a big deal.

Hannity vs. Cohen sounds like it's going to be an interesting story, but we just don't have enough information on that yet.

What we do know based on this is that Hannity should never work as a journalist again after his wild rant about Mueller going rouge, while never mentioning his personal stake in it. This is the biggest embarrassment yet for Fox News.

According to Sean Hannity he just paid Michael Cohen $10 to ask him questions.

According to Michael Cohen he got the $130,000 to pay off Stormy Daniels by using his own home equity, and it totally didnt have to do with her ****ing Trump while he was married to Melania.

If theres anything we know about Trump & friends is that you can trust them.

It's a good thing he's not a journalist.

Hannity has never once pretended he was impartial. He has a personal relationship with Trump, has acted as an adviser to Trump, has openly endorsed Trump, and has had Trump endorse his program before.

A journalist is reporting news and is covered by a different set of ethics (and even laws in some cases). A pundit is an entertainment figure who is paid to give opinions and has much more limited ethical expectations.

During the show, Mr. Hannity described the F.B.I. raid, adding, Now, what that means is Muellers witch-hunt investigation is now a runaway train that is clearly careening off the tracks.

We have now entered a dangerous phase and there is no turning back from this, he continued.

We will always be fair and balanced, Mr. Hannity said as he closed his segment. We hope youll always join us.

I am still just laughing at the defense of Hannity being "transparent" and an "open supporter" while they were fighting so hard against revealing him as the mystery client.

See, nobody cares how "transparent" it is that he's a professional shill.

That's totally fine. What matters is that, this time, he was personally invested and didn't disclose it. He had several choices. Just don't talk about the raid, or be clear about his relationship with Cohen. Of course Admiral knows this is unethical and Fox is likely to suspend him at the very least due to the embarrassment. And it won't be because of his opinion, but because Hannity made fools of his audience.

Then becomes the question:

Then why did you instruct Michael Cohen to conceal your name if you weren't a client? It also means your attorney lied to a federal judge about the existence of an attorney-client relationship. You might want to re-think this line of defense.

Fair enough. I don't even care if there's anything legally wrong here, the whole thing is just hilarious to me. Because of course Cohen, who really seems more and more like his whole legal presence to just make problems go away, would have few clients and fight to conceal them from a judge. And of course that secret client was Sean Hannity. And of course that judge was a former Playboy Bunny.

You literally couldn't script this shit, a network would tell you it's too unrealistic. And yet this is reality.
