When I was in 2nd grade I came home from school like any ordinary day. I went upstairs to my room at the time that I shared with my older brother. When I opened the door I saw my older brother hanging from the ceiling by his neck in a noose. Me being a kid at the time didn't know he was dead I asked him a question several times and got no response. I went downstairs and told Mom that my brother was being rude by giving me silent treatment then when my mom went in the bedroom she let out this god awful scream that I can never forget.

Don't tease chained up dogs. I tried to say sorry by petting it, it tried to drag me into its dog house. All my friends were watching and they all ran away. At age 7 it was twice my size and it went on for a good 15 seconds, but somehow I got away. Pretty much every limb is scarred.

New account, pretty extreme story.

But, to answer the topic, I have plenty of horrifying memories, but nothing particularly stands out.

When I tripped and fell over a campfire and a pot of scalding hot water spilled on me. All I remember was screaming and crying, but I somehow fell asleep in the back seat of the car when my parents were driving back to civilization to get help. Then I woke up in the hospital to somebody literally scraping my skin off with a wire brush or some shit. I woke up again in my hospital room at night and there were shadows moving on the wall and a rustling sound that scared the hell out of me. At the time I didn't know, but it was probably a bird outside.

After that it was like a week of lying in bed watching Disney channel while people filtered in with gifts, so it wasn't all bad.

When I was 17 I had done some of my homework, then went to the local game store/arcade with the full intention of finishing it when I got home. So I get home, and my dad asks if I finished my homework. I start to say no and how I was just going to finish it, when all of a sudden Im on the floor with a foot on my neck and my dad screaming at me. Douche totally flipped out on me for being irresponsible, when I actually was being responsible.

Why was your older brother home from school so much earlier than you, a second grader? He tied a noose from the ceiling? Did he punch holes in it to find a beam?

I can't decide between 2 of them. I've had many, but the bee incident and car accident were both the worst.

I was about 6-7 years old, I was outside playing with a ball. My older brother comes over and takes the ball and walks out to an old dog house near the woods. I follow him and rolls the ball inside of it and tells me to get it. Once inside I realize it's actually got a huge nest of hornets inside, just above the entrance. They were obviously agitated, but weren't attacking. I became frightened and started crying while my brother was outside laughing. I asked him to go get help and saw his feet as he walked away. I thought I was somehow going to get out of this unharmed, y'know being a dumb kid and all. My brother had other plans, and just flipped the whole dog house over so the exit was on the ground. The last thing I remember is hearing a loud knock and it starting to tilt up. Luckily I don't remember actually being swarmed by hundreds of them. Apparently I was hospitalized for a while and very nearly didn't survive, I don't remember that either. I just know that feeling of being so close to the exit but unable to get away was awful.

Car accident, I was 9 for this one. It was the 4th of July and we had gone out to eat. My parents were in the front seats, I was in the middle back seat with my brother on my left(driver side) and my cousin on my right(a different cousin than the one I usually talk about). We're heading home and are going over a fairly steep hill. As we reached the very top of the hill, a vehicle appeared coming the opposite way, but in our lane. We were both going full speed(55) and there was no time to react. We had a head on collision with them. They had been out partying and drinking all night and thought they were ok to drive, but the driver fell asleep and swerved into our lane just as we came over the hill. I remember being flung forward and being caught by the seatbelt across my belly. Then I looked up to see my unconscious mom just slumped over in her seat. My dad was looking around in a daze. I looked at my brother and his head was busted open with a massive swollen knot from his forehead to down around his eye. I literally thought he was dead, and that his brain was oozing out. I hear my cousin start screaming next to me, and by now people are rushing over to get us out. Everyone was panicking over my brother, who was 12 at the time. He was airlifted away, and had a major concussion, and was temporarily blind after regaining consciousness. My dad and cousin were mostly unharmed, just some scrapes and bruises, and a few small fractures. My mom had a stroke though, she needed physical therapy to learn to walk again. Turns out I was the one who was injured the most, the seatbelt severed my intestines when it caught me, and impacted with my spine. I couldn't walk then, and I went untreated by crapoy doctors, and was even left on the side of the road by the paramedics... Very long story short, those events were very horrific to see. I think I was in shock at the time, so it didn't really trigger the horror it should have. I needed therapy to learn to walk again too, me and my mom went in together for that.
I think the scariest part of this, was thinking that both my mom and brother were dead, and that I'd be left alone with my father. I was already thinking of ways to end my life if that turned out yo be the case, luckily we all survived, do did everyone in the ither vehicle.

The kids that got shot during the school attack was at my school. I got there right before the other kid did. The one that got shot. My mom was freaking out. A lot of my friends were worried, too. Because they knew I went in early to help out a teacher. My mom rushed the whole way from DC in a cop car to make sure I was alive.

If none of your memories stand out as being particularly horrifying, then theyre not at all horrifying.

Probably not as horrifying as most, but it is the one memory that always stuck with me.

My mom had no sense of smell and would leave stuff in the refrigerator for way to long. So when it came time to cook dinner she would always pull something out of the fridge and was never sure if it was good to eat or not. Well, the way she would find out is shove it into the face of the person closest to her, and tell them to smell it. Notice how I said "shove" and "tell", not "ask". So one time she shoved some hamburger that had been in the fridge for over a month into my face, and the smell was so bad I literally threw up all over it. I think I was like 8 or 9 at the time.

I could think of many things but horrifying is a strong word to use for them even though they are terrible and will certainly stick with me. In short it all is about abusive parents. Mostly my mum and that's part of the reason I feel nothing for her and have nothing todo with her.

... because having opinions can help and seeing other folk with similar experiences/issues help too.
Some folk find it more easy to discuss things online rather than face to face also. I've met a handful of cool people online who I've never met in real life and probably never will but knowing that I can relate to some folk certainly helps as does the advice they give. I'd also like to think my advice and experiences help them too. If it wasn't for those type of folk I doubt forums would even be a thing. Of course it's not for everyone but folk being strangers isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Kid pulled a loaded gun on me as a joke

My friend had a very realistic air soft handgun and, at age 15, said "wouldn't it be funny to point this at a cop?!" Normally, my response to stupid ideas is to tell the person to do it with fake enthusiasm, but even I couldn't bite my tongue on that one. His brother and I made it pretty clear that was a bad idea...
