I don't think the sentiment is entirely wrong, it's just not quite as simple as pointing your finger and saying this is the definitive cause. Our entertainment media both influences and is influenced by our culture. It is a reflection of who we are. Our violent culture is responsible for our violent shows, movies, games, etc. and at the same time all of those things perpetuate the culture itself. Theres no easy solution to this problem, as it has been a gradual slide lasting decades. I also think it was more or less inevitable for our country to reach this point.

If you guys want some "spin" on this, he's not wrong, somewhere in that incomprehensible babble.
The existing ratings systems are pretty terrible, and only really assign a flat "appropriate age" to whatever, without giving much indication of why, give or take "DSLV" or the fine print. Content descriptors need to be more relevant and prominent. Doing so will provide responsible parents a better idea of what their children may be exposed to, while simultaneously providing a checklist for squeakers with crappy parents. ...
