They were forced down our throat just to appeal to kids. Tried hard to be cute and funny but looked gross. Believable as an army to fight storm troopers.

For some reason the Ewoks never bothered me that much even though they really should. I guess I am blinded by nostalgia.

They should have stuck to the original idea and have them be Wookies which would have been badass. George Lucas nixed that idea though thinking it would be contradictory since Chewbacca knew how to handle technology and didn't live primitively. Chewie always just could have been the exception and left the planet to go on space adventures with Han. It could have expanded his character a bit too.

There was nothing forced about their inclusion. They felt like a species which would exist in the Star Wars universe and they were one of the many things George Lucas lifted from the Flash Gordon film serials. The second one had a tribe of little people who lived in trees.

It is annoying to see an army defeated with sticks and rocks, but there's nothing really that bad about the ewoks themselves. Hell, I'd bring them back and market them like the Star Wars version of Minions. Even without the marketing possibilities, I'd still bring them back just to rub it in the faces of the EU crowd members who want Star Wars to be dark and edgy.

Honestly just give the Ewoks an extra foot of height and they're fine.

Its easier to overlook ewoks for me since they add to the story. If Ewoks are in a scene, usually something is moving forward.

JarJar is completely useless after they get through the Planet Core, so everything he does is potentially distracting.

There's also the fact that after Luke confronts Vader the rest of the movie is GOAT tier. TPM has a lot of other problems. >_>
