mass marketing the re-release of a beloved cult classic experience is always going to do this, because people who owned it before are likely insufficient as a target audience
mana series games--esp the first (final fantasy adventure) are fundamentally tragic so this sort of thing is really out of place but the remake of the first game (sword of mana) even changed the tragic elements as a reminder, in the first game you spend a good 80% of the game trying to save the girl, who your character is subtly implied to be in love with, only for her to give up her life to become the tree of mana at the very end, with the final words being that your character is the last knight for the tree now. near the end of secret of mana, the tree is destroyed. --- And when the hourglass has run out, eternity asks you about only one thing: whether you have lived in despair or not. ... the basics with hitboxes and general movement feel better in the remake but there are other problems with it beyond that, some of which are due to trying to emulate things from the original that should've gotten the boot anyways and then getting it a bit worse

if you just try to dash through an area the AI will try to run through walls to follow you and usualy end up getting KO'd by enemies, but otherwise I haven't had issues with them getting stuck
