Imagine a long ass line of people at the express lane and right over it 6 open self checkout registers. I was in and out in like 48 seconds and the guy at the express lane was still having his items scanned.

I just don't want to bag my own stuff , simple as that. I am paying the same price for things might was well have some service .

At least at the places I've been with self check out, if you are getting more than a certain number of items it's obnoxious to try to use the limited amount of space.

Trying to buy like 1~5 things? Self checkout is wonderful. Buying large things or more than that? It's just annoying as fuck to use tbh.

The same reason I wouldn't want to have to go get up and bring our dinners out from the kitchen at a restaurant. If I'm going to a retail establishment, I want retail service.

so glad I don't work there anymore, I used to buy food at work every day and if I had to stand in line to do it that would take up half my break

As a retail employee, not only are there people stupid enough to bring that shit load through, they get pissed when inevitably the machine as a problem.

Both of these are smart, you still need a clerk to check the ID and most competent cashiers can ring up produce pretty quick. At this exact moment, I can tell you the code to ring up banannas off hand for instance.

I want to point out that in Walmart, this is down to how much theft a store receives. So blame the jackasses around you for making them inconvinece you. Like, my store in the middle of nowhere doesn't have the bag check turned on. But one near Baltimore City almost certainly does.

I usually do. What pisses me off is people who either bring too many items than will fit in the bagging area or people who dont know how to use it without screwing it up. Bringing produce or anything that requires an ID is rude.

If we are talking grocery I'm too effing lazy because scanning produce is a pain in the ass.

Other big reason is that the local grocery store doesn't allow me to put my reward number in without a key tag. Whereas when I use a cashier I can provide my phone number.
