This might sound sick and disturbing, but it's related to a recent Arizona bill that will allow female prisoners to get more than 12 pads a month.

Now, I'm for hygiene in general - even the men should be allowed all the free pads they want.

What I want to know, though, is 12 a month actually a fair and balanced number for a prisoner?

It depends on the woman and the kind of pad being used. Some women have light periods that don't last very long, while others have longer periods with heavy bleeding. Some pads are also thicker and absorb more than others. Generally speaking though, you'll change your pad about 3-5 times a day, and periods last 2-7 days. So 12 might be enough for some women, but not enough for many others.

Seems legit, too. Like if your GF is like - can you go to the bathroom and get me a tampon so it doesn't look like Im buying a restroom tampon?

When I was a teenager, it was like... Blood ocean. At least four pads a day for five days. One can definitely go through a lot of pads.

Now that I'm old and broken I barely use any, whoo.

12 is not enough for a month.

If you have an average cycle that's 5 days of bleeding. Changing every 12 hours is longer than recommended. You are supposed to change them every 3 to 4 hours when awake for health reasons. 12 is not even half of what is needed to be healthy.
