First date EVER or first dates in general? Probably a quick dinner or drinks at a bar. It's boring but it works when you don't even know anything about the other person (i.e. if they make it not boring then you know they're good)

Yep, I usually go for dinner since it's a good chance to talk, I imagine drinks would work as well.

Usually either a walk and then dinner, or just dinner. For the walk, some type of arboretum or park.

I've never dated. Like, at all. But I hear the whole coffee shop thing is nice. I once saw a couple of newlyweds in a Starbucks having their pictures taken because that's where they met. Maybe that could be you some day.

Drinks is better because either person can bail at any time and it's cheaper and faster (but can go on longer if it's going well)

I mean, unless you're going to like McDonald's, drinks are always possible/assumed with dinner.

And if you're going into it with a mindset of "I need an exit that allows me to leave at any moment", well, uh...I dunno. I guess I've never been in a dinner situation that was so drastic that I felt I couldn't last another 20-30 minutes just being polite.

went to see a movie, I don't remember which one. I wouldn't recommend it. there's basically no chance to really talk or do anything other than watch a movie the same way you'd watch it by yourself, but there's another person sitting next to you. the only reason it kinda worked out is that this girl was mildly obsessed with me at the time so she bugged me to take her out again after that.

Went to a coffee shop to get some coffee and talk. It can be short, but if you get along, it's somewhere where you can stay a while if you want to, and it's fine.
