I tip for delivery, always. At least 5$. I don't ever tip for pick up. If I'm coming to pick it up, the tip is what I paid for the food, initially.

Ordering 1k worth of food from Outback and not tipping even though that's an extraordinary amount of work gets major side-eye. I get that Outback didn't want the negative press backlash of shittalking a customer on social media and they probably should fire her. But my sense of propriety says they absolutely deserved to be exposed because good riddance. You do you, but if the shade is worth your job, spill all the tea and accept the consequences.

As a former waiter, tipping for take out is stupid. I will never tip for take out because I never expected a tip for take out, regardless of the amount spent. Every job has something that you hate doing but is still expected of you, this is no different.

The only people who think otherwise are entitled brats or havent worked in the food industry.

I can kind of understand Outback's point of view since she identified the person by name would could reasonably and easily cause harassment of the customer (it probably will be even worse though now rofl). If it was the first offense it just feels like it should have been a warning, though, and I definitely don't understand the refund.

No, they don't. That's for tipped employees and in only certain states like I just said. Takeout employees are not considered tipped employees. Show me where takeout employees get paid $4/hour.

A friend of Yoders told her to delete the post and that he would call the church about the tip. When Yoder came into work the next day, she was told that the church had been given a full refund and that she was fired.

Again, a tipped employee is someone who gets paid $30/month in tips regularly. Tipping takeout is not a regular custom, so the employee is getting bent over backwards for being defined as a tipped employee, instead of a regular one.

That's a problem on the employee's end because no one is making the other $3-$11/hour on takeout tips to meet local minimum wages. So it's better to be defined as a regular employee. If the employee is stupid enough to accept $4/hour for a takeout position, hoping to make up to the rest in tips, he's screwed.

Regardless, not only did I cover the fact that this happens only in some states even with waiters, you're talking about "nobody gives a fuck" Missouri. In NY, you get paid at least full minimum wage plus tips. So I'm not being cheap for not tipping takeout employees.
