I think I've said this here before, but my theory is that Trump doesn't even process reality in terms of objective fact. Whether something is true or false isn't even a consideration; just whether it's good or bad for Trump. So when he privately tells people a year after he fake-apologized for it that he thinks the Access Hollywood tape might have been faked, I think he actually believes it (at least in the moment).

BTW, the sudden spike on Rasmussen has stayed fairly consistent, as he's been at 48-49% for the past 6 polls. Something tells me that they've changed something in their methodology to get consistent results especially since his approval index was falling consistently since the major jump. Like his "strongly approval" percentages now consistently hit 34-35% which he hadn't touched since a couple of months after his election.

I can't speak for Rasmussen's methods, but on 538 Donald's pretty consistently gone up awhile since the tax plan passed in December and I expect that to continue as long as it's tax season.

I work with ICE pretty regularly and their response is pretty much what mine has to be when people complain - law enforcement officials don't get to set the agenda in terms of priorities and we don't get to decide what the law is.

If the top of the pyramid is directing them to go do certain things - that's exactly what they're going to do.

In fact, we cannot really do otherwise.

So I will defend them by saying simply - you want better law enforcement, elect better politicians.

Just to clarify. Dreamers are still very much illegal, by the letter of the law. DACA is just a non-binding agreement that grants them temporary amnesty, which can be rescinded at any time. This is why Congressional action is so badly needed.

It doesn't assume that at all -- that was implied by the premise. Either you're gonna find it morally abhorrent and quit or not, but don't pretend "well I'm just following my orders" like you have no say in the matter. Nobody was conscripted into ICE.
