Then I got a job as a software developer, and found that very few people here would fit the neckbeard stereotype. then i realized, neckbeards lack the social skills required to actually get such a position.

My last job had a few neckbeard-y developers (minus having actual neckbeards), but it wasn't a very modern, "hip" office like you see all over nowadays. I assume those ones don't attract or have any interest in hiring neckbeards.

Software development probably had more neckbeards 15 years ago before it became a more popular career field. Now it seems like it's headed to an oversaturation of talent.

Ah the constant battle against hair on my neck. I hate shaving but it must be done.
