the costs of pizza is meant to be split between friends, roommates, and family. It's not meant to be bought a person living on their own. Tipping is also supposed to be split between multiple people. A single person paying for pizza, delivery charge, and tip is just not worth it.

That's why I very rarely get things delivered to my place. I go and pick it up.

It's always like a 5-10 minute drive away and I get the food faster than I would if I got it delivered and I pay less overall so win win.

I get a large pizza with half a dozen boneless wings and an order of Cinnaparts for like $15. That's bare minimum 2 meals, usually 3. But if I get it delivered, after all the fees and tipping it's closer to like $22. I'm not paying 50% more to get it delivered.

Getting a large double burger meal is probably around the average price of a pizza. Little Caesars + McDonald's Coke = $6+tax. I can eat a whole large pizza but I would most likely keep some for lunch the next day so even better value.

I havent bought milk in a while, but I live in Virginia Beach and I think the last time I bought some it was about $2.50. I know it was less than 3 bucks.

I stopped buying it because I've got more lactose intolerant over the years and it just get's wasted.

I actually realized only recently that I'm lactose intolerant. Obviously is very mild.

I was very lactose intolerant (apparently) when I was a baby, but I seemed to have grown out of it. Relatively recently (like, last several years) I noticed I was having stomach issues. I particularly noticed any cream based things (so like cakes with whipped cream on it) would absolutely destroy me. I assumed it was either the consistency or the sugar or whatever. I never assumed lactose intolerance because I could drink milk with no problems.

But then I started noticing problems after ingesting milk. And that's when I finally connected the dots and realized that I had become lactose intolerant again. I don't avoid dairy entirely (I still eat pizza for example), but I do avoid specific things now - cream based ice creams ("ice milk" like Dairy Queen seems fine) and milk are the two big ones, and everything else I eat in moderation.

Yeah. My friend can have dairy. And does eat some dairy products. But not a lot. Just a little here and there...

I have never seen a large Pizza under $10 in the 10s here in Boston even if it's a cheese pizza (and I don't do cheese pizza). It's expensive to live here so makes sense everything else is priced higher. My local places charge 12 something for ONE topping in a large.

scratch-made.

Disagree completely.

When I was single and living by myself I almost exclusively ate pizza. (this was circa 2002-2008)

Nearly every pizza place had $5 large one-topping pizzas. Just pick one up after work on the way home and you have a hot meal. You probably won't eat it all - so you'll have some left over for the next day.

Even if you do eat it all - eating at McDonalds costs $4 or so - so it is very comparable.

That isn't a hick town. My Grandma and Grandpa lived in a small town called Elizabeth Town here in Illinois and it only had 350 people living in it. It also didn't have any big chain restaurants or even a big chain stores in it. Now that is a hick town. Had to go quite a distance just to get to a town with those things.

I don't think being alone or with friends really matter. Like kukukupo said, I can pick up a $5 one on the way home. If you want it ordered, it's a little more. But even then, I've order pizza in groups and alone. I feel I pay more in groups and get less. But in a perfect world, you get the same amount of pizza for money in a group or alone.
