It was so powerful. Sad and melancholic too, it even ends on what I consider to be a downer note just like civil war, but my god it was so perfect. Answers all the questions from the first movie about Quill's dad and other stuff in a way much better than ever I could anticipate.

Some people felt that there were too many jokes, and while there were a couple of duds from Batista, I actually enjoyed a lot of his scenes even if people felt they relegated him to comic relief.

And Yondu you guys. That was such a great moment, bittersweet but great. And Kurt Russel as Peter's dad the evil celestial is also perfect (or are celestials inherently evil?)

I thought it was a great followup to the first movie, and unlike say, avengers 2 which was a disappointment, guardians of the galaxy (who are basically space avengers) 2 does not disappoint.

I liked it, but I get why people don't.

The way I see it; GotG1 was such a pleasant surprise with how "quirky" and gleeful and funny and amusing it was. Nobody really saw it coming and it was an unexpected and enjoyable movie.

GotG2, while also all of those things, was not a "surprise" because we knew what GotG was about at this point, so the quirkiness was expected.

Still enjoyable, just missing the "wow nobody saw that coming" aspect.

GOTG was fun because it was different from other marvel movies.
GOTG 2 wasn't different enough from 1 and its not good enough to keep me interested after seeing so many comic book movies.

It's one of the best MCU movies. Nailed just about everything, from the action to the humor to the drama to the touching little character moments. I really loved it.

It was pretty much in line with the first one, so it wasn't as fresh.

It makes up for it by having one of the best villains in the MCU, so that's good.

I get it.

Guardians 1 was silly and simple.

2 wad bloated and forced. All the conflict was forced with the blue sister, raccoon and planet dad

And Stallone, the gold aliens etc just seemed to be "LOOK HOW GUNNY AND WSXKY WE ARE MOKZ" instead of just being funny.

Guardians 1 was like someone going to a job interview and when they open the door they get a pie in the face instead of a boring man in a suit.

2 is like 40,900 men with no context all just throwing pies into the wind until the entire screen is nothing bit a void of cream and pastry

Same. I was pretty uninterested in the first one, only really enjoying the soundtrack. The second one was a lot more entertaining and hit much closer to home.

2 has the better story/villain.

I felt that the characters were flanderized compared to the first one and that the heartfelt moments were cheap attempts at adding substance to a movie that didn't know when to stop the comedy
I get why other people liked it, but imo it was the worst comic book movie of 2017

I haven't watched 2 simple because of these. It was inevitable that because GotG was such a surprise hit, that they would only try to duplicate it. Kind of like Pineapple Express>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Interview. Somethings are a surprise hit, and trying to make it again most often fails.

I mean, if you're competing with Spider-Man Homecoming and Ragnarok, it's not hard to come up short. But Justice League wasn't very compelling either.

I felt it went too far to be slap stick funny, some of the other jokes fell flat and went on far too long(taser face), and honestly it felt like Chris Pratt was phoning in on his acting. Half the characters regressed on any development they made in the first film, while others just lost what made them endearing to begin with(Drax).

Some scenes make no sense at all, like going through the asteroid field as a shortcut, when the enemy fleet went around it in the same amount of time. It didn't matter either way, they were still in the exact same situation whether they went through or not. It was just used to set up more friction with Rocket that could've simply come from him getting them in that situation.

I do like the movie, but I only, it really can't compare to the first one. Yeah, the ending was a good strong note to end the movie with, but I can't honestly say it was better than the first because it had a satisfying ending(which is almost ruined by Starlord's blank emotionless expression throughout the entire scene except the last few seconds). The whole movie just felt, idk, dumber and cheaper than the first. Still a fun movie to watch though.

Rocket's entire character development was unnecessary and made me dislike him. In the first he was a lovable asshole. In the second one he was a crybaby asshole.

Baby Groot was too much. Full grown Groot was perfect for that type of character. Then they just went too far with it.

I didn't like most of the humor in the movie. They did a complete 180 on Drax' character taking him from a serious character with a tragic backstory to just straight up comic relief in the second one. The Gamora/Nebula sidestory just felt forced so there would be something for those characters to do in the movie. I didn't care for any of the new characters who were introduced except for the villain because Kurt Russell is an American treasure and he can do no wrong. The music overall was worse, with the one exception being imo when they played My Sweet Lord as they were flying across the villain's homeworld. I liked it more than probably most of the Marvel movies, but I didn't think it was nearly as good as the first one.

This.

The first one had great cast chemistry and great humor and some alright action, but the second was basically a a classic sci-fi novel with a modern superhero cast.
