I don't understand what point this post is trying to make. They're unarmed with current gun laws, so what difference does it make? Are you saying it would be better if they were shooting armed civilians? Or that the civilians need guns to fight back against the police? Liberals don't take issue with police brutality as a matter of gun ownership; it's about systemic problems and biases in the criminal justice system.

Yeah, I'm kind of sick of hearing the "mental health" refrain. It is definitely an issue, but been adopted too frequently by conservatives as an excuse to not talk about guns, and the mental health concern goes well beyond gun violence.

I see the need for guns in rural areas for hunting and defence, and for those who actually shoot as a sport. I don't believe it's generally necessary in urban areas, or at least it wouldn't be if every angry teenager didn't have one.

Hitler actually wanted an armed populace and he admired the Swiss for their model of civilian gun ownership. German gun laws were actually substantially loosened during the Nazi years, aside from Jews and other minority groups that the Nazis were busy persecuting.

Restrictive laes wont work overnight (like some people think) may take a few years, but it will help in the long run.
And the longer you guys put it off the longer it will take for guns to disappear off the streets.

And yes there will always be illegal guns on out there, but they will be less prevalent. Even Japan has illegal gun ownership, and yes its very rare, but there are gun related crimes there, so no way to get rid of it entirely. But that isnt the objective of gun laws, its to lower gun violence

Well blanket laws seems to work for the entire country for other things. I agree with the guy who said we could lessen restrictions for people who live in rural areas and hunt but in general I don't see how living in a different state would mean you need to own a gun.

I did the MS Walk three years in a row and raised thousands of dollars for my local MS Walks in college and actually participated in the walks.

I donate money as I can afford to other charities. This past year I donated to Puerto Rican aid charities after the hurricanes. I also donate to various animal causes. I don't need to brag about my donations because I don't find the need to.

Plus, on top of that I love having my taxes go to take care of people who have difficulty taking care of themselves.
