No work on the weekends. Well, unless I have extra lesson planning to do.

Being able to work from home anytime I need to. So if I have to be home for a service appointment, sign for a package, or whatever I don't need to waste vacation time doing it. Also don't have to waste sick time if I am good enough to work but still don't want to be in the office.

Being left alone to do your thing is great. I'll have weeks of this but then some random day my boss will start micromanaging the stupidest things.

I'm a freelance / self employed personal trainer. The best thing about my job is that I get to do something I truly love as my career. I'm ultimately in control of what direction I take my business. I can choose where I market, what types of training I do, and even be selective on who I want to train if I want to be. It is a very fulfilling career to have, I'm often helping people change their lives in a big way for the better.

The biggest downside is that even though I don't have an actual "boss", I still need to answer to all of my clients, as well as the fitness directors / owners / managers at the gyms I work at. I also need to almost constantly be "on". If I have a client who needs to book a session, ask a nutrition question, or has an issue with their training program, I need to be almost constantly available to answer them. Also, being responsible for obtaining all of your own clients and holding your business together is a daunting task. Some days I feel like I'm barely holding on by a thread.

At the end of the day though, I'd much rather do this than what I was doing 3 years ago, which was sitting in an office working a generic bullshit desk job.

The downtime. Oftentimes, I'll sit at a rig for like 10 hours, on my phone and get paid for it.

Weekends off, unless working on-call that week.
Dental, vision, and health insurance.
Unofficial access to the good WiFi on my phone, which otherwise be using the crappy public unsecured WiFi.
Get to wear jeans and casual dress shirts or flannels instead of business wear.

i work for myself, so the best part is that nobody can blame me except me.

i get to make my own hours, choose my own jobs, and generally do whatever the fuck i want so long as i get the work done.

it is bliss

None really. My job is extremely stressful, I don't get paid much and I don't take much time off. The only perk is that I really enjoy it. I spent years working to get to where I am, even while knowing these things would happen.
