Seriously I'm only in Slateport and I've got a lvl 32 marshtomp and my golbat and breloom are at like level 29.

The annoying thing is I feel like I can't even turn off the Exp Share, it's ruining my gaming experience but I can't not use it as a level up tool.

If only it worked the way it used to.

It just seems like all Pokemon get the same full amount of EXP regardless of whether they battle or not, it's ridiculous

The new Exp. Share is great but it should really be a postgame item because of how easy it makes the game. I think a good solution would be to limit it to the first two Pokemon in your line-up when you first get it, then have it gradually extend to more of your team as you get more badges, then have it affect your full team when you become champ.

Gen 2 did it better where you get it later and it gives one pokemon half experience. Of course wild pokemon topped out at Mt. Silver at lvl 48 so lvl 100 was a hell of a grind, and now new pokemon games seem to like that shit.

I liked the new EXP share in function, but it should have split the experience across every Pokemon rather than...I forget what it did exactly, but it was a ton of bonus experience.

It's a key item you get early on, like ridiculously early on. And all pokemon in your party get EXP as if they fought the battle

also you get EXP from battles with pokemon you catch

gen 5 (B/W) are probably my least played pokemon games. They were great, and i even bought black 2, but the timing of when they came out was just bad for me. I gotta go back and play those games more.

Yup.

Black and white are ds games.

Get x and y, im sure you'll enjoy it. It has more customization than sun and moon (not sure about ultra sun and moon though)

I'll have to see what the legendaries are and see if I wanna snag one. I haven't played pokemon since gold/silver.

I guess you can catch all the legendaries in ultra sun and ultra moon (not in the singular games, but combined)

XP share has been a thing since gen 1

and since there's no held items in gen 1, it just gave XP to everyone.

it was ass though, since it divided XP evenly instead of how newer iterations do it, which is give everyone full XP shown

Math textbooks have become the same way. They make them all super colorful and they put photographs in them that are really just there for decoration. I guess they assume that it's too hard for the student to keep their attention on just reading. Same thing with Pokemon games: compare Pokemon Red to Pokemon FireRed.

Yeah. xp share was broken in Gen 6 and made the game extremely easy. I just started playing ultra sun, but it seems like they did a better job of balancing the game around it by reducing xp gains across the board so you can use it without everybody getting super high level.

I wish they had stuck with the gen 5 approach and made xp gains scale based on the level difference. Playing through black/white was the only time I felt incentivized to use more than 3 pokemon.

The campaigns in all Pokemon games are easy, so it's a silly topic. The only time you might have hit something resembling a roadblock -- up until the E4 anyway -- was in RB. The E4 in even the recent games have been decent.

actually participants get full EXP, and the others get half that each, regardless a ton of EXP is generated out of thin air
