What I like least about his presidency so far is the tweeting. Its often immature and lowers the tone of the debate while debasing the office of the presidency. That said, I think the media needs to be a lot more evenhanded in its coverage of him and keep its personal opinions in check.

Lol. Yes and no, I have my own criticisms of the man, but overall I think he's doing better than expected honestly.

That said, I couldn't think of a username and there was a bit on TV about some lib chick getting arrested for flipping out and trashing some guy's MAGA sign in his yard. Seemed funny to me, and yeah I know just seeing anything to do with Trump can cause some people to hilariously lose their shit.
So it was equal parts "lol let's trigger some libs" and equal parts "it's nice to know exactly where people stand." Meaning I'll debate all day, but if someone can't even get passed a username it's probably not worth engaging them.

Why are people complaining? Most of the letters are exponentially more articulate and well-written than most of the trump-supporting garbage on the internet. I actually have to give the NY Times credit for selecting the ones they selected instead of the bottom of the barrel stuff that TC implied this article was putting on display. I would disagree with these people on much of what they've written, but I would do so respectfully and would look upon them more respectfully than I do the average trump supporter on this board. I actually think the article is pretty fair, and really the only thing that jumps out at me is that most of the letters just emphasize the same points in a kind of echo chamber-y sort of way, but at least the people writing seem capable of rational thought beyond what trump supporters here display.

It says supporters, not voters. An actual mentally ill person could easily have a letter published in this article. However I didn't read the actual article before posting and TC's quote isn't in it, and none of the quotes scream "mentally deficient" like the OP so that's my bad.

Possibly, but that's not the point. They made the effort to sift through and publish the letters that DON'T paint trump supporters as within the bias they seem to clearly know they're expected to have. It doesn't really matter how much or how little effort that is likely to have taken. It proves that they will present well-constructed opinions from the other side, which they should. It would be like Breitbart or Fox News posting anti-trump letters of the same caliber. I would give them the same level of credit. Both sides should be giving proper credit and respect to the opposing side when it is due instead of focusing on slander. Pointing out idiocy, bias, ignorance etc. by the opposition is fair play, but taking a step back to convey views that are above the level of ignorant trash one would find in comments sections speaks volumes toward credibility and is healthy for keeping both sides in a mindset where they can pause and humanize each other. No one is immune to getting dragged down by divisiveness, so I'm always one to commend efforts like this.

In many cases, the writers of the letters are conceding that trump has his flaws, and more than happy to admit they don't approve, which I was always also willing to do during Obama's tenure (and I actually chose not to vote in 2012). I may not agree with them on their praises of trump, but they openly criticize him for things I also openly criticize him for instead of trying to deflect or double down or use all the other bullshit tactics commonly used around here. It would not be right for me to not have/show respect for that.
