Yes, I don't really play video games anymore and if I were to ever get into a relationship again, that would be my #1 priority anyways.

Probably not. I'm fine with her not interested in video games but to outright hate it might lead to her being annoyed with how I spend some of my free time which can't possibly be healthy for said relationship. Imagine sitting down to play your favorite game and instead of being indifferent, your partner actually looks at you with scorn.

Have I done stuff before that my parents did not approve of? Of course. Did I do them on a regular enough basics that I am constantly getting an earful from them, nope. The latter is what I simply want to avoid. That constant nagging for something that I regularly partake in.

Well tat becomes hard since online dating is like impossible.

My SO hates playing. She just gets flustered easily by them. She hates when I play if she's up and we could be doing anything else together. But she doesn't care at all if I play at night or if she's busy. She just doesn't want me prioritizing them over time with her, which is perfectly reasonable imo.

I wouldn't call it an outright dealbreaker, but I can see it causing enough issues to make a relationship a bad idea. She certainly doesn't have to enjoy them herself, but I don't think it's ever a good idea to have one partner in a relationship hating the other's hobbies. That's just going to result in leisure time being an unpleasant strain, and nobody wants that.

I don't even think I'd be able to talk to her for more than five minutes. There are three things a girl must appreciate for me to have a longer-than-average conversation with her:

1. Video Games
2. Anime
3. Star Wars

At least a passing interest. They don't have to be huge nerds, but hatred/zero interest in those things will make her a non-starter for me.

If you're in a relationship or banging a girl who hates video games and never willing to give up your hobby, you're not emotionally invested to begin with and using her at that point (unless it was determined and mutually agreed upon by both parties beforehand). In that case, use some fucking protection.

No, you're right. While you should accommodate time for the other person, you shouldn't have to throw away things you like to do for that to happen.

Other way around. Somebody who expects you to give up a hobby just because they don't like it isn't worth your time. Making time for each other is one thing, and a very important thing, but you don't have to give up hobbies to do that.

I voted yes, because I'd try dating her; but I suspect it wouldn't work out if I couldn't even mention video games to her. I'd like to be able to at least talk about video games in the news, e.g., "Did you hear that Mario is no longer officially a plumber?".
