It's cold.

Too cold. I don't live in fucking Antarctica. My little space heater can't keep up.

Something about polar winds and whatnot screwing up our weather.

What you are saying is correct, but we have done irreversable damage to the atmosphere, and that is a problem. Earth will outlive us I'm sure (unless we go to nuclear war with NK), but that doesn't mean the human race is going to make it another 5,000 years.

Because increasing the planet's average temperature causes disturbances in normal weather patterns, including more extreme winters. Please tell me you're not going to act as though the "it's cold outside, so much for global warming!" argument has any actual merit.

Jesus. I don't have the energy for this. It's like arguing with flat Earthers. You don't have to "believe in" science and facts for them to be true. The sky is blue whether you like it or not. You not thinking it is doesn't stop it from being true. Science doesn't give a shit about you, it is a completely emotionless observation of our world.

Now, yes, science is always changing in the sense that we learn more about the world than we did before. (Such as the model of the atom most of us learned about in school growing up is considered dead wrong at this point. Modern quantum physics changed a lot about that.) But pulling conspiracy and politics into "we have damaged the atmosphere" is such a frustrating human trait, limiting the future of our species.

The Earth has been hurt by us. You thinking it hasn't been doesn't change anything at all.

tbh, badly informed, poorly-spoken climate change supporters are a greater danger to the cause than the actual critics. Not only have you argued that science is frequently wrong (opening the door to "Well, if even a scientific consensus is often wrong, why should we assume it's right about this?"), but you've raised the idea of belief being independent from reality which can be turned on you as well since the causes are seen as a belief.

Granted, I'm assuming you're an earnest believer and not a stealth-critic seeking to undermine it by pretending to believe while advancing terrible arguments.

Except that nothing I spoke was poorly informed and "facts" can't be "terrible" in the nature of an argument. Apparently, I know more about this than you do, and I'm tired of ignorance being spread as fact. I see it enough in social media.

Yeah even though it's really cold right now, the average temperature is still increasing. Outliers vs averages.

Probably should have assumed this topic would take this direction.

That part in between 2000 and 2010 is the part deniers like to pick to suit their narrative. Steven Crowder showed the same graph cropped to that part in a video once. During the hottest August in recorded history, nonetheless.

Did you know Fahrenheit is also water based? (At Earth's atmospheric pressure) 32*F is the freezing point of water, and 212*F is the boiling point of water, which is exactly 180 degrees in difference, so a half circle.
