I mean, this was the culture that centuries ago had Seppuku as a wonderful honorable thing to do if you shamed your lord. So these guys working 20 hour days and sleeping under their cubical for 13 days straight, 1 day off, 13 days straight, 1 day off and barely seeing their family for months... and then their video game or product fails miserably? They failed their family name by being so horribly unsuccessful and kill themselves to hide the shame and leave the stress. More importantly, everybody focuses on Japan when it comes to suicide, but they're not even close to being the highest.
