I bought The Surge and refunded it after 35 minutes. How did people enjoy that combat system? It felt very clunky and the body part targeting system was annoying to actually get to the part you want to target.

To be honest I don't really care about Steam Winter Sale anymore...
And I used to, really. I looked forward to the Winter Sale every year and bought stuff But the last two years..I didn't care, at all. I only purchased $70 worth of games because I felt bad for not buying anything and decided to go crazy, and it was at the last day of the sale I assume it's because of - 1.Too much shit games, when I am drowning in games and the games that are actually good doesn't stand out, I lost interest. Also because it makes me feel overwhelmed by the amount of games 2.Flash Sales - now this is a big one I don't know who in Valve decided to remove them, but I can't believe it turned out to be a smart discussion The idea of the Flash Sales was brilliant - first, you put a deadline, thus making "on the fence" buyers feel like they must buy the game before the deal runs out of time Second, you make the deal "special" - if the game was 60% off, now it's 80% Third, you almost guarantee a purchase - because hey, the game will not get any cheaper in foreseeable future, so if I won't buy it again, and I will buy it in the future, it will probably cost me more - so I will buy it now And last, you make the Winter Sale actually worth something and makes it different from the rest. Because right now I can't tell the difference between the Winter Sale, Summer Sale, Automn Sell, Spring Sell, Halloween Sale or whatever the hell you call them The Winter Sell doesn't stand out anymore.. --- 3DS FC : 3411-1762-0066 ... To be honest I don't really care about Steam Winter Sale anymore... I miss flash sales too (who doesn't love bigger discounts) but I don't think it's changed what I buy at all. - then: I decide I want X game -> I check every day for a flash sale -> if not, I buy it on the last day - now: I decide I want X game -> I buy it So it's more convenient, but yeah, not as fun. --- You put your RESOLVE HAT back on, which conveniently is the same hat as your NORMAL HAT. {Drakeryn} ... I think that Valve ended the flash sales due to the implementation of the refund system. I doubt it. Flash sales ended before the refund system was put into place. It's more likely that the flash sales were ended because it required too much coordination from Steam and publishers/developers. Steam doesn't like having actual people that work on the store. Presently, developers simply have a field to fill in for what price they want during the upcoming sale. With flash sales, there are multiple fields to consider and Steam has to coordinate. They're not making less money this way, and they don't have to hire humans. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

why would you want to have to check a store every 8 hours even if I wasn't buying anything, I'd still stop by to vote in the polls and get free cards (and it's a lot easier to vote in a poll than clicking through an entire discovery queue) other than that, I dunno, I guess I got a kick out of buying things at flash sale and knowing I waited for the BEST deal --- You put your RESOLVE HAT back on, which conveniently is the same hat as your NORMAL HAT. {Drakeryn} ... Yeah the sales after the end of dailies/flash sales have been more profitable for everyone involved. I dunno if that accounts for overall Steam growth, but I don't think it matters because we're not going back to the way it was.
I do think refunds played a part in killing the flash sales. I bet processing all those refund requests in that sale was a pain. There's virtually no difference between Valve's front page curation now with daily refreshes compared and asking devs/pubs for an additional sale price if they get picked for a daily, although I bet it's less stressful for devs overall. Don't have to wake up each day and see if you won the lottery. --- ICON: Well! There it is! ... Copied to Clipboard!
