i'm a few more of these incidents away from sending this cat to a shelter, which is already overpopulated, and where he'll inevitably be put down.

you better not.....

don't you dare hurt that cat. if you can't take care of him, put him a no kill shelter where someone that appreciates him can adopt him

It sounds like your cat feels neglected since you had a baby.
You need to make videos of this cat, and start a YouTube show called My Asshole Cat.
I know it's kind of messed up, but if that was a show, I would watch it regularly.

No I'm not a troll.
If you truly believe people are jealous of you, you're delusional.
If you're certain, then create a topic with a poll and straight up ask people if they would trade lives with you.
You might be shocked by the results.
The truth is that you've become a stick up and cranky lately and people don't like that.
Drink a beer and chill out, dude.

hahaha, so in all likelihood, i'd probably give the cat to my mother, who lives close. she likes the cat, and she lives in a much bigger place than us, so it might be a good solution, ok?

i think my mom will be ok with it, and if she isn't, we'll try and find a home. i was kind of saying the shelter thing out of anger yesterday because i came home to a piss-smelling apartment. i mean, we got the cat from the shelter originally, so...

i seriously doubt he'd ever intentionally harm her, but that doesn't mean he can't harm her accidentally, ok?

If your cat is spraying and it did not do that before, I would suggest taking the cat to the vet. There may be something medically wrong with her.

Outside of that, I would try the calming collar or feliway spray. Please don't give the cat to a shelter, your mom or someone you know would be great.

Do what every other responsible pet owning parent manages to and close the door to the baby's room. Only let the cat there with supervision. I'm not saying let the cat have a baby sleeping free for all but if you shut the door you keep the cat away and keep the cat from waking her.

Sounds like your cat will have a better life elsewhere anyway so that's good

Most people seem to just be attacking Ziggi just to attck him. I understand what you're going through. If you have to, rehoming the cat with your mom would probably be best. Even if it's just a little while until the cat is good around the baby. Protecting the baby is first priority. And like someone said, you don't always know how a pet will act around a baby and to change.

Maybe the baby wasn't in her room. It's possible the baby might have been in a bassinet in the living room. Or somewhere close by. I don't remember if he said the baby was in her room or not, so I apologize if I'm wrong.

Ziggi, in all seriousness, you need to do what works for you and your family.
If giving the cat to your mom works for you, then go for it.

I'm not sure how your wife feels and whether she has a strong attachment to the cat.
if she does, you may either want to close the door to the baby's room so the cat won't disturb the baby (and pay a little bit of attention to the cat while the baby is sleeping), or let the baby and cat get used to each other. Sit with the baby while one of you pets the cat, maybe.
Either way, the cat and baby will be fine.

Having a baby is a huge adjustment, and the cat will most likely get used to the baby if it feels it won't be replaced by the baby if you should decide not to give the cat to your mom.

Good luck, and get some rest, ok? ;-)

shut the fuck up, you have no clue what it's like to be a parent, only a cat owner, ok?

the cat was in the same room as us. we left the baby for no more than 2 minutes as we started to prep for cooking when we looked over at her and saw the asshole cat, in her swing with her, getting ready to lay down on top of her, ok?

there's no way we'd ever leave the cat in the same room as her unsupervised. that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard, and the fact that you feel like you have to tell me something so obvious is ridiculous, ok?

please feel free to disengage from this thread, as you are providing no help or support, and are not wanted, ok?

if you're having a problem with a cat, just wait until your child gets older. And older.

We had some friends over yesterday and they are raising their 3yo as an insufferable little brat. But when my mom went full mom on him, he got scared and started behaving. He was pouting because he obviously needs a lot of work but I wasn't that proud of my mom in a while.
