Into the Breach has already sold more than 150k copies, is the best-reviewed game of the year, is regularly streamed by prominent strategy streamers/LPers. Moss has ~40 reviews catalogued on OpenCritic, it's on every major site. Where the Water Tastes like Wine is a tiny visual novel that will probably be profitable on a few thousand copies sold, and it has reviews on Polygon, USGamer, RockPaperShotgun, Eurogamer, etc. Part Time UFO is a mobile game made by HAL and it's being recommended by both major mobile sites and more console-favored sites. These games are finding their audience. Moss has ~40 reviews catalogued on OpenCritic, it's on every major site. Where the Water Tastes like Wine is a tiny visual novel that will probably be profitable on a few thousand copies sold, and it has reviews on Polygon, USGamer, RockPaperShotgun, Eurogamer, etc. Part Time UFO is a mobile game made by HAL and it's being recommended by both major mobile sites and more console-favored sites. However regarding "why hasn't this happened in other media" the answer is because other media are different. The barrier to entry in terms of both money and time is much higher with games.
