Technically, you probably didn't - the poll calculates votes in a weird way in the first couple of hours or so of voting, where it caches votes and doesn't immediately post them as results.

So what you probably saw was someone else's vote while yours was still being processed.

They talked about how all this works a while back, but I forget the exact details.

I'd say there's a pretty good chance I did. I had a clock open to the millisecond, I didn't even read the question or any of the answers, I just clicked the first one my mouse hit and I went for it. Either way it's the first time I've ever seen just one vote on the results page, which chance-wise is still the same.

Yeah, but the point is, probably at least a dozen or so other people (if not more) ALSO only saw one vote on the results page.

Basically, the results page accurately reflects YOUR vote, but it doesn't accurately reflect the sum total of all potential votes it has received since the poll started.

Again, there's a more complicated technical explanation for how it works, but I forget exactly what it was. But it means that, in spite of the fact that you THINK you were the first vote (and you may have been), you may also NOT have been.

Regardless of how it works, seeing only one vote on the results page after voting is pretty rare.
