It will launch in the Americas and Europe in 2018. In Japan, where an Xbox One version will not be released, it will launch for PlayStation 4 on March 21, 2018 and for Switch in summer 2018.

I know the reception to VC2 was really cold, but are 3 or Azure Revolution at all worth checking out?

I liked II, the gameplay was way deeper, to both merit and detraction.

But it's definitely hard to capture the scale of the PS3 game on the PSP, and the story was just fluff.

I made a thread saying that Azure Revolution wasn't that bad... but then it turned out it really was bad. Has a pretty good Mitsuda soundtrack that's worth a listen though.

The main problem with it was that it was too much cutscene,not enough gameplay. That being said, I"ll reserve judgment / suppress hype until I see some gameplay videos for this one. We need maps that require actual tactics again.

Also...the original VC still looks better. This should've been a PS4/PC exclusive.

It's so strange. VC2 and VC3 practically killed the series because they made the stupid move of making them for the PSP, because the PS3 wasn't "doing good" at the time. Flaws of VC2 and VC3 can be attributed to being on weaker hardware.

Thankfully strong reception and sales for the PC version of VC1 revived the series. I'm legit confused why VC4 is on Xbox One over PC. No one buys Japanese games on Xbox unless it's the only choice (Lost Odessey, Tales of Vesperia) and Microsoft isn't making that same mistake again.

If you've never played 3, you should play 3 btw.

There is a fan translation of it and it is a LOT better than 2.

PC saved this series so the obvious way to capitalize on VC1's success is a delayed port.

Out of curiosity, do either VC2 or 3 do much on the balance front? I love VC1 to death but scouts are kind of hilariously broken compared to the other classes.

VC2 is severely limited in team making because of PSP limitations. You have your tank and then I think enough character spots to pick the 3 MCs and maybe one or two other characters. It might even be less than that honestly.

I remember a lot of the challenge maps in VC1 it was a viable strategy to get the highest rating by simply having a Scout run across the map and capture the enemy base solo in like one or two turns. Amazing stuff.

Oh yeah and VC2 maps are pretty much terrible. They're chopped into pieces so what would be one big map in a VC1 stage is like 3 split maps in a VC2 stage. It can make occupying enemy bases to prevent reinforcements somewhat annoying when you factor in how few characters you can bring into battle

There's a mod for VC1 that's suppose to make the game more balanced but ends up borderline Kaizo as I couldn't clear the very first stage without perfect RNG.

The big change was headshots deal less damage and enemy grunts have more stats. The result is that enemy lancers now headshot your units from half way across the map way more often. You cannot leave your tank's weakspot open at all because Lancers can and will snipe it.

I never tried EX Hard mode, but it sounds pretty neat. Is a first run of it actually balanced around NG+ level units? I absolutely love it when games do that.
