Why would you shoot a deer with a handgun? I mean you can in some states. In California you just need centerfire ammo and a 4" barrel minimum. But I'm not sure RIP rounds are softnose or expanding projectiles which are what you need to hunt with to be legal.

But realistically they're a overpriced meme round. If you want another meme round look at Winchester PDX1 Defender, or Ranger T-Series.

they actually do have some laws on them. if you use them in anyway even self defence it is looked at as attempted murder.

some in here are calling them meme rounds. well... first off that person called them rounds. that should be enough to tell you they are clueless on the subject.

these "rounds" are intended to fragment into tiny slivers that are next to impossible to treat. they were designed to cause as much damage asap and prevent the wounded from recovering.

I had a ex step father who claimed when he hunted he used a handgun. his reasoning was when he shot deer with a rifle they where able to run away too easily before bleeding out and he had to go after them. he said with a 357 the got knocked down and he didn't have to go after them.

so, when calling a cartridge a round, a round is the entire thing. the bullet, the casing, primer, powder, all of it.

so yes, calling a cartridge a round is fine and commonly accepted.

when you call a cartridge a bullet, you're literally only referring to the projectile and nothing else.

calling the bullet a round is improper.

I've never heard of anyone getting shot by these. Go look up the ballistic gel tests of RIP vs other premium hollow points and they perform unfavorably compared to them. The company that makes the RIP rounds just hyped it up to generate attention.

he wasn't a gun enthusiast or anything like that. just used to hunt. he had quit by the time I met him, but more so because his eyesight wasn't worth a shit anymore.

I haven't heard that but I don't think that would be the case since RIP is a solid copper bullet so it shouldn't be able to mess up a steel barrel. I could be wrong though.

Lmao @ this topic

The RIP marketing team is just copying what Winchester did with the Black Talons in the 90s and people who don't know anything about ammo ballistics fall for it. People are silly.

because with how it'd designed, there is a chance for one of the petals to sheer off into the barrel.

I know american love their guns but come on, why in the hell would you want something that rips somebody's organs apart? it's not enough to put a bullet in somebody's head you wanna make sure there's additional damage for... what purpose...?

i'll never understand this

no one wants it, though. it's very shitty.

it looks neat as fuck when going through ballistic gel or a watermelon, but on an actual person with bones and muscles, it isn't going to do much more than act as weaksauce pellet spray.

I think I might be mistaking it with another type of ammo. the one I was thinking would split open before hitting the target while still connected somehow and spiral naturally causing a very large entry wound. I remember someone promoting it as a "anti-rape" bullet or some shit like that.

I saw it on the internet though so i'm not even sure if it was real. it didn't sound all that appealing to me so I didn't look into it. but later I heard people claiming it was tearing up the inside of the barrels.
