I'd wager that the stuff that slows down Gamespot is delivering actual content, whereas the front page of GameFAQs doesn't really have much important non-text content to deliver. It could likely be streamlined a lot, though a fair chunk of the slow bits are probably dedicated to ads (hence I find the site pretty fast with uBlock and NoScript). --- This is my signature.
