Fallout 4 really was a massive letdown. The lack of any meaningful dialogue choices after having previously experienced New Vegas really killed it for me, it was even way worse in comparison to 3 in that regard.

The way perks had been locked behind level requirements in 4 also meant you'd be practically done with the game before your character build actually felt like a build. To make any two characters feel different you'd have to basically restrict yourself to a single weapon type even if you had no real statistical advantage to do so (yet).

The settlement building was also just really boring IMO. There never felt like an incentive to do it, protecting the same places a thousand times isn't particularly fun.

I also didn't like the first Bioshock very much. The story was interesting but not great and the twist at the end is about all I can recall of it other than the general setting, other than you spent most of your time running around doing fetch quests.

I loved Infinite, though. I thought the story was magnificent and it really blew my imagination wide open. It might have helped I went in completely blind, the game was not on my radar until the insane review scores started dropping (I knew nothing about Elizabeth, let alone she could teleport. The run up to meeting her was actually really creepy, I thought they had detained some kind of monster). Having re-visted it to play the DLC recently however, the gameplay is super bland and if the story wasn't as strong it would have been a complete snoozefest.

Dragon Age: Inquisition probably takes the cake though. It played like a bland MMO. Like, it took what MMOs do and other than an in-depth story, forgot that it doesn't have to restrict itself to MMO standards. So much pointless filler and collectible "content", the combat was just generic and boring, a faux-open-world that felt like it only existed for far too many gangs of mobs to sit around waiting for you to come and kill them. Sidequests with no interesting dialogues or consequences and to top it all off the story was about as complex as a typical superhero movie. As much shit as DA2 got, I'd take it over DA:I every time.

Halo 1 redefined the FPS genre. It had the most advanced AI of its day, and many of its innovations can be found in today's FPSs. Hardly "average".

Because it's a great game. When you add the right mods, it's the greatest FPS of all time, bar none.

I think that GTAIV would have been better received if it was a new IP.

When Zak and Wiki came out, there was this bizarre cult that developed around it. Even IGN fell into it and went beyond advertising to campaign for it's success.

I bought it and it was just okay. Got bored and moved on pretty quickly. Same thing happened with De Blob, though I don't remember how well that was reviewed. Oh, and that black and white Sega game with the chainsaw dude.

Actually, almost every "quirky" Wii game that people loved I thought was kinda boring. Except for Boom Blox, but I don't remember people giving a fuck about Boom Blox lol.
