If they made a rule against showboating, they SHOULD have a rule against taking the knee. Both are unprofessional conduct.

Keep in mind that a couple large parts to Trump lashing out at the NFL are 1) the action that the NFL took in 1990 to bar Trump from receiving any NFL franchise, and 2) his clear and present racism.

It doesn't offend me if players kneel. I assume that the people who are offended can just stop watching and showing up to games, and if the NFL starts losing too much money, they'll do something about the kneeling.

I wouldn't say it offends me, I don't feel that strongly about it, but I do find it unprofessional to bring protest/politics into your workplace, unless the protest is about something dealing with your job. I mean if these guys where protesting on say twitter or other social media, i'd give zero fucks.

on the other hand though if NFL wants to allow it, thats the NFL's choice they are the bosses of said workplace.

Compelled loyalty/patriotism isn't true loyalty/patriotism, so no. If you mandate it, you're defeating the entire point.

It's kind of like that baseball diamond that used to (or maybe still does, I'm not a baseball guy) force everyone to remain in their seats while they played God Bless America. No better way to celebrate freedom than by taking it away from people for a couple minutes, right?

You mock but what he suggests would probably give people a sense of real patriotism. When you come at issues mandating that people love the country then it leads to people despising it. It's why Soviet Russia and North Korea suck so much balls.

I do feel like pride in the country should be encouraged though. when people are prideful they try harder to make it the best, because they want it to be the best.

I don't think people should be encouraged to feel anything but what they feel. If they feel left out, they are welcome to demonstrate those feelings instead of denying them. At the extreme end of this "friendly encouragement" are prohibitive laws that mandate speech be a certain way. In the end these laws fail because you can't get anyone to feel anything by the use of force. That's just not how humans work.

well I wasn't talking anything forced, just you know as I said encouraged, no incentive/punishment or anything. basically just try to make being patriotic look appealing. you won't win over everyone, but you tried and didn't step on anyones toes in the process.

and stuff like that has been done before. the creation of captain america was said to try and increase patriotism in children.

Couple this with putting people on watch lists for dissent with this current government and that's not acting with the intent of fostering any kind of national pride. That's some pretty totalitarian nonsense.

You can't encourage people to feel anything different than what they feel. Particularly if you choose not to address the problems that leave them feeling this way.

Censoring yourself makes it impossible to determine whatever point you're trying to make. Secondly, the kneeling is not a sign of disrespect. It's being done to bring to light that there are population sectors that don't experience "justice for all", you know a governing principle of America.
