Teddie always get hilariously shot down immediately. Morgana has a constant boner thinking about Ann and awkward as fuck when he drools all over her during group interactions because the group has no idea how to respond.

Ken and Answer Yukari are disgusting, but I doubt they would be so oblivious and dumb to sabotage her friends for stupid reasons.

I mean, Yukari DID have a stupid reason, but it was somewhat understandable.

dungeons are a little harder to rank because, well, I've been playing this over a 2 or 3 month period. I don't have more than an hour or two to spend on playing games a day and Metroid took some of my time away recently. so some of these are older opinions.

I think I went something like this for palaces:

Okamada (future-y space-y something or other)
Kaneshiro (bank)
Mementos (counting both dungeons as one cause they were kinda short)
Futaba (puzzle pyramid)
Kaneshiro (castle)
Sae (casino)
Madarame (museum)
Shido (ship) (THOSE FUCKING MICE)

Eh, I didn't mind Morgana that much. The Ann thing is definitely the worst thing about him. Honestly, I didn't mind the Morgana/Ryuji fight that much at all compared to how most people see it. Yeah, it was pointless, but whatever. I sorta saw where they were going, but the execution was pretty bad. At least the Morgana/Haru scenes are enjoyable, though, moreso for Haru.

4 - Rise and Yukiko
5 - Ryuji and Futaba

The point of the events in 5 was that you get excited for something and then some shit happens and it's disappointing, or you get to the magical vacation spot and realize it's boring as hell. It's realistic, and anti-escapism, which is the theme of the whole game. It is definitely fully-baked, and it was pretty damn hardcore for them to put that stuff in this game knowing that people loved the fanservice in previous games. Basically if you just wanted the game to give you some happy feel good stuff, then your soul is definitely in Mementos.

That doesn't make them better for most people. I'd wager you're in the 1% there while I'm in the 99%. Those scenes were typically used for lots of great character interaction while in 5 they basically ignore that altogether for "great" phone chats because who actually wants to hang out with people or talk to them in person am I right

Made the game considerably worse to me, but I value characters and interaction more than any other aspect of an JRPG

Morgana is the worst P5 party member, but Ken is still the worst overall by a decent margin.

P4 has one of the best playable casts in any RPG, so P5 having to follow that up was a tall order, but I still enjoyed the cast.

I think the Hawaii trip did a good job at conveying the cast's disappointment, so while I didn't love it I think it was done well

Is this in reverse order of favoritism? That's the only way it kind of makes sense. The space dungeon was the worst by far. But then again, the ship was almost as bad... The museum was my favorite.

I think Madarame's was the worst. I liked Shido's except for all the stupid mouse sequences, but I think it was mostly for all the cutaways to Shido and Akechi in the real world once you got a letter. Those were really cool.

Futaba's is probably the best overall because I liked the design and the puzzles. Kaneshiro's is really solid despite him being a totally forgettable bad guy in every way. Okumura's is hit or miss for me. I enjoyed the part where you were jumping from airlock to airlock, and the boss sequence was surprisingly fun, but the rest of it sucked.

Either way, P5's dungeons were a major step up from 3 and 4.

Nah, I really liked the space dungeon. Aesthetics were great and I liked the employee section and the airlock section. Top 3 is Casino, Pyramid, and Space in whichever order. Shido would be up there if it wasn't so long and if they cut out some of the mice sections.

Kamoshida, Futaba and Sae's dungeons are the best. I'd probably go like...

Kamoshida > Futaba > Sae > Kaneshiro > Shido > Madarame > Okumura

what's bad about Okumura's? I liked the theme, the music and it was pretty harmless. I don't even remember anything besides the airlocks and that it was generally likable. the last airlock puzzle was not great.

Eh, Okumura's Palace probably had the worst music. Most of the Palaces had decent music, but I didn't like that one. I didn't like having to do all the BREAK TIME stuff either. Kinda annoying.

The airlocks weren't great. Running around all over the place to get the passwords wasn't great. Timed "race" sections weren't great. The boss was kind of lame.

The airlocks took me forever, because I misinterpreted the way the color scheme on them worked. Once I figured it out, I enjoyed it, though.

Kamoshida > Kaneshiro > Shido > Sae > Okumura > Futaba > Madarame

Well, none of the Palaces were particularly challenging, I think. Kamoshida's might have been the hardest simply due to early game limitations, especially if you're trying to beat it in one day.

the only parts that really bugged me was Shido's dungeon. that thing was endless, looped back onto itself and the mice stuff was only interesting once. they did it like five times.

Akechi being relegated to a surprise boss tacked on after a miniboss also sucked. he deserved at least a calling card or an actual boss fight.

Most of the challenging stuff comes early for sure. I remember having to re-do the Kamoshida mini-boss -> castle roofs section, like, 6 times. I gave up when I got into an enemy fight right before a save point and everyone instantly dying to Hama. Gross.

All the Anubis stuff in Palace 4 wasn't too great, either. Everything after that goes by pretty nicely since you have way more options at your disposal at that point.

Akechi is a bunch of neat ideas that could have been great that was executed really horribly. I was pretty okay with him before his boss fight and that boss fight just ended up making Akechi ridiculous in all the wrong ways.

The whole point of that sequence (and of Yusuke's character in general, really) is that he has absolutely no sex drive. He doesn't want to paint Ann nude because he wants to boink her, he wants to paint her because she's classically beautiful and would make a great painting. Ann doesn't grok this because it's so completely alien to her experience of what teenage boys (and men in general TBQH) usually want from her.

The whole point of that sequence (and of Yusuke's character in general, really) is that he has absolutely no sex drive.

Yusuke pretty clearly has a sex drive when she's taking off all her layers and layers and layers and layers of clothing.

And I think the real surprise with Akechi isn't supposed to be that he's the traitor, but rather that the party sniffed him out beforehand, which is why they filter those scenes out before the reveal.

Last Surprise is great when you get the THEY'LL NEVER SEE IT COMING during an All-Out Attack but it's not anything special otherwise.

I know he's supposed to be obvious, but he failed to be good or entertaining or anything. 4's similar character was also obvious to me immediately, but was a far better character despite having less motive.

I think Akechi's VA really salvaged the character for me after the heel turn became official. He was really good at being insane emo kid (which makes sense since he's an FFXV party member too)
