It's awful. The job description online didn't say anything about having sell subscriptions to people. Yeah, I have to ask every customer if they want to fork over an extra $25 for a membership plus I have to ask if they want magazines for free for several months until they have to cancel it themselves which takes about 10 minutes because you have to call. I have to try to convince these people to spend more money or else I get less hours.

Nobody likes the manager because he's a hard ass who likes to rush the customer out the store 30 minutes prior to closing. My coworkers seem chill but I've already seen how they like to gossip to each other. Fuck man, I just want to stock or something. I hate being fake for hours on end. I feel dead on the inside and I don't have a girl or someone worthwhile to go home to afterwards.

Just needed to vent/blogfaqs. I have to work again about one hour and I'm really not looking forward to it. I'm so miserable, bros. I would quit but I just started so it would probably look bad.

You dont owe your employer anything. Find something else and quit. It doesn't matter if you just started, it's best to move on so you don't even have to put it on your resume.

I quit 2 jobs back to back where I only worked there 3 months. Sometimes it's just not a good fit.

True, I should start looking for something else in the meantime.

No, I'm a hard worker. Some of the people training me were surprised at how quickly I picked up on how to sell to people. If I were shelving books or just ringing people out, it would be no problem. Having to try to convince people to buy what I'm selling and being fake as hell bothers me.

Are you working for BAM? They make people do that shit and it's hell. One of the worst rated companies in the US to work for. If it's not them, sounds just as bad. You should run far away, and quickly.

Yes, BAM is who I work for. I didn't even know it was one of the worst rated companies. Holy shit

That blows that you have to do so much extra shit like push subscriptions. Would anyone know if you didnt and just told the consumers to have a nice day?

Yeah, there's a way of keeping count. I have to hit at least 5 magazines, 3 subscriptions, and 3 gift cards per shift. It sucks, bro. If I don't meet my goal, the manager will have a talk with me and I lose hours.

What's worse is that I just started last Friday and I was told that I need to get good at selling by this upcoming Saturday.

It was already stated, but the instant I read the OP I knew it was BAM. They're a shitheel company who's violations will catch up with 'em eventually. Wife worked a month there years back.

TC you should get a warehouse job, they're easy as hell provided you can stay on the move for 10 hours without feeling like you're gonna die. Your only responsibilities depending on your department are how fast you work, from my experience at least 40 items per hour is what you should be hitting but that's for things like replenishing, I did packing the last time I worked one and it was awful, standing in place for 10 hours sucks, it's easier to be able to move around like sorting or picking. If you're a social person it can go quick, if you're not, you get to wear headphones with only one of them in your ear. The pay is better than retail, too usually 11.80 to 12.50 an hour with bonus pay for people who want to work holidays and overtime.

However, don't go to Amazon, those guys are slave drivers, their demands are absurd and they're real sticklers about getting people to work overtime.

I just despise the selling aspect. Ringing people out and stocking is fine but trying to convince them to spend more money is something I can go without. Personally, I hate it when I go shopping and someone tries to get me to buy what they are selling.

It seems like OP dislikes Sales.

Having to persuade people to do things you yourself wouldn't do is job I can't do well myself.

I can see how obnoxious that would be especially if my hours (aka pay) depended on it.

It's why I can't work on commission.

I want a job where I can mindlessly do my task without having to worry about anything major, I get overwhelmed easily, which leads to panic, which leads to mistakes, which leads to me beating the hell out of myself mentally and that leads to more panic, leading to more mistakes. For example, the second time I was called back to my job, it was to drive one of the forklifts, they assured me that it was easy, come time for me to actually get in the thing, I instantly forgot everything I learned and nearly ran over the instructor, me and him agreed'd that I should move to another department then and there, which worked out well til my dumbass took the bait and stayed in the area with all the mega big boxes like shoes, sports goods, toys and and more shoes because no one else would do it and I thought I was being helpful by doing it and helping myself because I got to be alone, turns out nobody hardly touches that shit because you can't meet your hourly quota of 30-40 boxes by doing that crap combined that with me stopping to unclog the box shoot that leads to the trash from time to time because again, I thought I was being helpful and bye bye job.

Being fired is all kinds of humiliating, they call you to a room, they have you sign the release and this whole time there's this big Debo looking motherfucker in the doorway ready to spinning pildriver you into the ground if you don't take the news well and he will follow you all the way til you leave the grounds.

Sheesh, that's rough. I wouldn't mind a job where I didn't have much to worry about right now. I already have enough on my plate.

Yes, I hate Sales. Didn't even know I would be doing Sales when I applied for the position until the interviewer broke the news to me in person. I didn't even see Sales in the job description. It was awful.
