Cecil is okay

Kain is better but that's less about depth and more about being a cool dragoon

Ricard is the superior dragoon from that perspective his role is just much smaller

I liked Advent Children and Crisis Core wasn't bad either!

Dirge of Cerberus not so much but yeah

I'd be fine with FFVIII getting back in the limelight for a while and I'm always willing to give it a shot. I'm tentatively excited about FFVIIR.

i think close to 100% of what is good about crisis core is the stuff about non-established characters. in that vein, i think advent children ruins most of the characters (see: cloud) and is garbage. haven't played dirge.

that said a laguna/kiros/ward prequel has promise and it's not like they can ruin the ff8 cast any more in my eyes so bring it on!!!!!!

Squall might have hope if they try to base his personality on KH Leon, which is based on lategame Squall.

If they want to "capture the original feeling" or whatever bs they used to make Cloud extra broody then I'd be really sad. But I guess exploring a Balamb Garden or Deling City on future technology sounds pretty worth it.

Or they can take my suggestion and base it on Seifer. I think he'd be great for a FFXV-style open world action adventure game. He even seems like a perfect fit for a karma system, if those are still in vogue by then.

Necron is a terrible fight. Any boss that primarily attacks with status effects is awful without exception.

Yeah, Necron was awful. I never found a way to guard against beserk so whether I won that fight or lost came down to a half dozen consecutive coin-tosses

Maybe Ozma got all of that out of that RNG boss syndrome out of my system but IIRC I beat Necron in one attempt. Had no idea he was difficult.

Tidus > Wakka > Rikku > Lulu > Yuna > Auron > Kimahri

Yes I am well aware I don't like Auron as much as the average board 8er

Wakka/Rikku is pretty close and can flip either way I think

I used to dislike Rikku too but her character wasn't as offensive as I remembered and she has a good overdrive and not annoying celestial weapon

Kimahri is basically the indifference line. I like the top three, dislike the bottom three.

Tidus, Auron, and Yuna are all top ten characters for the series for me. Rikku's probably borderline top 25. I like Wakka more than most, too. Lulu's all right, and Kimahri doesn't get a lot of screentime or dialogue, but he's actually pretty decent when he does.

Auron's development is there in the Jecht Spheres. It's just that it all happened before the events of the game, and he keeps most of it close to the vest until Zanarkand.

Indifference line is Kimahri really. I like em all to varying degrees though I only really like Wakka and up.

Honestly the reason I have Wakka so high is I like Blitzball and I find the idea of attacking enemies with a Blitzball funny

X does a pretty good job of making you feel attached to the characters at least by making you use them in battle for certain enemies. Except Kimahri (but he's kinda like a flex of sorts?)
