Alright let's see if I can knock this out all in one day or if I get lazy.

[B]est, [W]orst, and best [N]ewcomer by game collective. I only cheated and doubled up on a few newcomer possibilities if I thought one might be on shaky eligibility ground, or if I really couldn't decide between two (for better or worse).

Just small writeups so there's a greater chance I actually finish, but I'll be happy to dialogue with people.

Final Fantasy I:
B- Bahamut
W- Kraken
N- Matoya

King of Dragons for best, obv. B Mage would have been there otherwise, but can't deny the most prolific summon in the series. Kraken is goddammitraytan. Matoya's got the herb.

Final Fantasy II:
B- Emperor Mateus
W- Maria
N- Leon

Dissidia really made me like Mateus, despite me thinking Minwu is the best designed white mage in the series. Maria is super augh. Leon is just legit, but he only gets like one nomination every year because no one likes FF2.

Final Fantasy III:
B- Cloud of Darkness
W- Luneth
N- Onion Knight / Desch

CoD is another one that Dissidia made me like a lot more, plus Exvius. Luneth gets worst solely by virtue of Odin being better. I don't know how Onion Knight would count, but if he does then he should be the next rep. Desch is the best of the rest of the cast though so he prob deserves a shot at some point too.

Final Fantasy IV:
B- Rubicante
W- Edward Chris von Muir
N- Ceodore Harvey

I don't like much of 4's cast (don't hurt me leftybot), so Rubicante is the best of the bunch almost by default. Fuck Gilbert. I don't think there's anyone in the main game left to give a shot to, so might as well give After Years a token shot.

Final Fantasy V:
B- Gilgamesh
W- Xezat Matias Surgate
N- Enuo / Ra Devil

Mesh is pretty obvious. Xezat is more (and not the last) goddammitraytan. And holy shit there is literally no one left in the main game to bring in, so I went and reached a little either for the actually pretty awesome super boss of Advance or the main villain of OVA sequel.

B- Kefka Palazzo
W- Terra Branford
N- ?????? / Gogo

I am down with the clown as one of best villains in the series, and think he got ROBBED in the finals imo tbqh. I already didn't like Terra before amygate, so that didn't help things (though Terra the music track is A++). I personally would count the Phantom Train Ghost since it IS a temporary party member, but otherwise I guess it's Gogo just to complete the party.

B- Zack Fair
W- Cait Sith
N- Shelke the Transparent

ZackFAQs one of the best winners. Cait Sith is just bad, Reeve is way better in every way. And I didn't hate Dirge and think Shelke and Shalua were both great characters that are sadly never going to get a chance. Especially in the bloat that has become the FF7 roster year over year.

Final Fantasy VIII:
B- Zell Dincht
W- Irvine Kinneas
N- Kiros Seagill / Sant' Angelo di Roma

ZELLLLLLLLL best winner. Irvine worst everything, stop giving him redemption runs. Kiros would probably be the best addition since he's party of the Laguna crew and has an awesome limit break, but I could definitely get behind an Angelo run at the very least to see which dog gets a better a run. (What did Interceptor max out at?)

Well, he's so far above the bottom ten now that there's little danger of him falling back into it, at least not for a while.

Interceptor's best finish was 68/100.

B- Garnet Til Alexandros XVII
W- Quina Quen
N- Necron

I almost didn't pick Dagger solely because of 'can't concentrate' and gave it to Beatrix instead, but she's still the only main party member worth anything imo. Quina also needs to stop getting redemption runs. I also had a hard time coming up with anything to add from this game, but the final boss seems like a good enough one for me.

Final Fantasy X:
B- Jecht
W- Dona
N- O'aka XXIII / Rin

I would play a FFX-0 solely to get more Jecht. Literally Dona and I can't even blame it on raytan. You have no clue how much I wanted to pick Leblanc here, but literally Dona. The conversation the other day made me realize that O'aka actually would be a decent rando rep for X, but Rin has a certain charm too (especially since I think there was mention of a theory where he's profiting off of the death and destruction of Spira, which is fun times too). I know a lot of people want to nominate blitzball randos too, but I didn't want to dig into all that nonsense right now.

Final Fantasy XI:
B- Shantotto
W- Nanaa Mihgo
N- The Adventurer / Prishe

Full disclosure most of what I know about Shantotto comes from games like Dissidia and Exvius and Theatrhythm and other compilation games, but she seems the best. Nanaa and Lion are both goddammitinviso from what I remember, but Lion seems the better of the two. As far as newcomers, the player character sounds like it could be interesting since it would be different for every person who has played them. Otherwise, Prishe is the best of the other characters I do know (mostly for Shantotto reasons).

Final Fantasy XII:
B- Dr. Cid
W- Vayne Carudas Solidor
N- Reks

Dr. Cid is the only antagonist that matters in this game, and one of the better characters in the series overall. Sad that like all of his support vanished completely after starting out so well. Sorry charon. I think I've made it clear this year that 12 would be a better game with more Reks and less Vaan and I'm sticking to it.

Final Fantasy XIII:
B- Serah Farron
W- Hope Estheim
N- Caius Ballad

It's either Serah, Vanille, or Lebreau since those are really the only three characters from the trilogy that I like. I'll give the nod to Serah for being the most important that is also the least offensive. No Hope Left is the best Hope. I don't want to add anyone else really, but Caius is 'okay' I guess.
