LOL

Sex sells and plenty of female streamers take advantage of it. I don't see what's so lol-worthy about the idea of a guy doing the same thing.

there was absolutely nothing attractive about watching this slimeball lazily beat his meat in a dimly lit room before a stream. It just turned my stomach.

Personally I don't want to see it either but I'm also not attracted to men. Similarly, a lot women would probably not care about seeing attractive female streamers in the same situation.

I actually never really watched him. I know this sounds petty, but I could never get over how he looked like Dante from Clerks and I absolutely fucking hated that character.

I don't appreciate tax scammers. No one should. :v These damn youtubers have been scamming the system for too long. If they're gonna make a living putting khantent on youtube, they need to be filing their taxes like everyone else.

LOL, you guys are terrible. :D

But this is DSP we're talking about, and all the bad things that have happened to him are deserved. Maybe now he will become humble (highly doubt it) and actually act like a good person and treat others with respect.

Who am I kidding? lol

To be honest it sounds like if anything could sober him up some, it's this. Especially reading that Reddit topic, it's clear that the unanimous advice is "Time to act like a professional serious adult"

So he has to finally act like an adult, for self-preservation. He can't treat tax laws the way he treats a Dark Souls boss.

You don't go about making that amount of money and claiming that much in expenses without a very firm understanding of what you're allowed to do and without a half decent accountant. This guy was trying to rinse the system and got busted, that much is very obvious.

Even if he did do all of this unknowingly, he's still at fault. The IRS don't go out of their way to audit people for shits and giggles.

Chances are almost certain that no youtube "celebrity" has thought to save anything.
Better to pay a lawyer 100K than pay the IRS 300K and do some jail time. Or, if you had any fiscal sense whatsoever, just cut the IRS a check and keep better records next time.

I remember listening to a podcast between his two former friends John Rambo and Howard. They were going on about how he would fuck them over and how his shitty personality pushed them and their other friends away from him.

I felt so bad for them, you can tell they were close to getting emotional what with the anger and sadness in their voices as they went on.

Lmao

Yeah that's DSP alright.

Also, doesn't he have a business degree? And if hr owes 300k, that means he has put close to, or over, a million in deductibles. In just three years, what the fuck?

This isn't "average Joe who forgot a receipt or two stupidity" this is professional stupidity. The IRS will suspect serious fraud here, and with good reason, his defense can't be "nobody told me".

Unless he gets a professional CPA, he is in serious trouble.

DSP is. While the Tax code is a twisted nightmare that's impossible for any sane man to navigate, as a business owner, it's your responsibility to either know what you need to do, or pay someone who can tell you what you need to do.

Moreover, has anyone questioned how a guy who works from home has any claim to his car being a business expense?

Yeah that's ok. If you're sole trader. But someone like him probably would be best being LLC or something, which in that case business accounts are required. Still no excuse for poor record keeping either way.

What do you do? Just curious.

the two ways I make money through contracting are either fundraising (campaign plans & grant writing assistance) or doing data collection and analysis for policy campaigns (for instance, I contracted with a foundation to collect administrative data from a few different companies in the area to determine the value of 2-year degrees)

you can deduct business miles, but if he just wrote off his entire car, that's incredibly stupid.

It's 54 cents per business mile driven for 2016 that you can deduct.

Or add up all the other auto expenses (insurance, gas, lease payments, repairs & maintenance, vehicle tax) then multiply it by total business miles/total miles

Whichever is higher you can deduct (Source: I'm a CPA).

Can also confirm that this idiot should have hired someone..
