If that was condensed to like five people from the beginning then the votes wouldn't have been spread out so much. But my point is, out of 16 people, Trump (as "terrible" as he allegedly is) was able to surpass them all including the few who had a decent shot if Trump wasn't in the picture. He didn't win because some system is flawed (by which everyone plays by and knows the rules), he won because he was the most popular and chosen by the people, hands down. The Republican establishment better put someone up really appealing that can defeat the sitting president. History proves that to be somewhat difficult. Once he gains the Republican nomination, it's up to the Democrats to have someone to defeat Trump.
