I really got into soda making last year even though I don't actually drink soda. I usually just give it to friends.

I stick to mostly simple stuff though, just fruit sodas and root beer/sarsaparilla. Nothing too fancy.

I was similar when I made beer years back.. and while fun, it was mainly for fun when friends visited.
Bottling soda (Root beer) could be fun though, but I'm guessing it isn't easy/cheap? :x

Depends on how "authentic" you want to be. Making it from scratch, then no. Making it from extract is actually very easy, and not that pricey since one 4 ounce bottle will make like 8 gallons.
