Board 8 > So my freezer died yesterday

I have my combination Fridge+Freezer in the kitchen but I have a separate second freezer in my den

so yea, it randomly died. I don't really keep stuff in there but my mom occasionally comes to my house and stores her stuff in that freezer

she had a turkey, fruit, chocolate, frosting for cakes, tv dinners, etc.


So yea, yesterday, I noticed a god awful smell in the house, I thought my new cat took a piss somewhere but no, it was much worse than that. Then I thought maybe an animal died in the house or at the very least, in the walls. I feared the worst and thought maybe it was one of my cats, but they were all accounted for.


I was looking around and finally I deduced it was in the Freezer.

the second I opened it, I swear there was an ungodly wind that blew from within the freezer and entered every orifice it hit.

I was a hair away from vomiting everywhere. I really thought I was going to, it was beyond gagging.

My new cat was watching me from a few feet away from me and he vomited.


It was seriously the worst thing I've ever smelled. I couldn't even concentrate or think at all. I finally put my shirt over my face and got a few trashbags and cleaned it out. When I filled the first bag, I put it outside for a minute, then when I went back out to put it in the trash bin, it had at least 20-30 flies ALREADY on it. As far as they knew it was a dead body. Trash day was on Wednesday, its gonna have to fester in the bin for almost a week.

nothing was salvageable. Also no, I'm kinda decent off right now, so I'm not gonna try to eat it as a survival tactic >_>

The turkey was completely thawed and bloody, I didn't want to make a mess so I actually had to mess with the freezer until it came back on and refreeze it so I don't spill it everywhere. The house smell has significantly reduced but the freezer is still stinkin up the place


It feels like that episode of Cowboy Bebop, the only way this would be worse is if it came alive and killed me

If it got in your peehole, I recommend DenTek easy brushes to scrub the smell out

A smell so wretched it causes a cat to throw up that's pretty impressive!
