I also forgot to mention earlier that I finished Dad of Light, thus fulfilling my end of the bargain. It was okay at times and not great at others.

There's a lot of references I think will go over people's head because they rely on Japanese pop culture that isn't anime or games ( though there's a few of those too)

The more eps I watch, the less the game gets interesting and the more engaging the workforce stuff gets.

I'm guessing that first part is true because I felt literally the opposite about the game/work stuff in Dad of Light. The workplace stuff was awful and distracted from the main plot way too much. Like, the whole FFXIV plotline felt like the B plot that bolstered the A plot of his work life. It should've been the other way around

It somehow took Setzer until CXI to make his debut, and he really hasn't done much. He's come close to a top 25 finish a couple of times, but everything else is somewhere near the middle except for his one boot a few contests ago. Unsurprisingly, Setzer's STATS are also middling. With this performance, he drops a bit from 49.69% to 47.73%, falling past Ultros, Steiner, Sabin, Dr. Cid, Jecht, and Black Mage to land at 50th place.

Setzer's New Era STATS are a little worse because he doesn't get the benefit of his best finish in there. He slides a little from 44.63% to 42.51%, getting passed up by Eiko and Ultros and stopping at 60th place.

Also Leon while the final you're referring to might've been the best for you it was maybe top 5 best potential final of that particular contest for me, by which I mean of all characters that had a push that year Squall vs. Tidus would be maybe 4th best. Like.... I dunno 15th best final overall.

Actual best final would be Tidus v. Balthier, which is obviously never going to happen ever. Of finals that could conceivably occur with the right backing some combo of Yuna, Cloud, and Sephiroth would be the most desirable to me.

That's just a "your favorite characters in a final" final. The best finals would be one with drama and tension and an extremely close vote that pulls in a lot of casual voting so it's unpredictable.

Squall/Zack is still the best final we've ever had when taking into account the quality of the two characters in it.

Last year's was pretty good, too, actually. We just can't seem to get the right winners.

Cloud vs. Sephiroth wouldn't be my favorite characters in a final! You've got me on the rest though. CvS would hand most of those qualifications too, just no drama (hopefully).

Honestly, Lightning vs. Tifa would be an interesting finals. Could see it going either way, and it also has the potential to be very close.

Drama is not a bad thing. You're just used to drama being spun negatively. Drama just means that it piques emotionally and heightens your investment in a situation.

Contests 3, 6, 7, and crowning glory 8 are the overall highest quality finals.

But seriously didn't Zell and Mesh victories essentially happen back to back because of cross-iteration contest alliances? I wouldn't know those contests predate my history on the board.

Do we even know what is a legitimate show of strength anymore? The entire board has niche favorites or pushes niche interests; anything can be strong any given year.
