It's official: President Trump has decided to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program according to 2 close aides.

They said the president made the decision this afternoon after meeting with aides.

DACA is an Obama-era initivate that grants work permits to more than 800,000 undocumented immigrants who were brought by family members as children.

This will spark fury towards the White House on either side of the aisle and Trump and his aides worked through noon to decide how to best announce this controversial decision.

The president was trying to make up his mind on whether or not ot end this program since inauguration as Trump railed against Obama and slammed it as an "illegal amnesty" that he would immediately end.

Though he made it a campaign promise, there were moments it looked like he would not address the program because of its popularity and he even suggested Friday that "We love the Dreamers, We love everybody".

Some GOP lawmakers urged him to change his mind on DACA and even Paul Ryan suggested he not end it. He said "These are kids who know no other country, who are brought here by their parents and don't know another home. And so i really do believe there needs to be a legislative solution"

Jeff Sessions apparently played a role in rewriting a new immigration law to persuade Trump to terminate the program.

Trump will delay the ENFORCEMENT of the new immigration decision and deportation of immigrant children by 6 months

That window will give congress some time to act but no doubt this will anger millions of americans but shore up his base who put him over the line of the presidency.

Seems to me like it's better to let these kids be with their families, since they're still kids and all.

...We did deport their parents, right? Like, if the parents and kids both entered illegally and the kids were only still here because of a program set up just for them, the parents should already be gone, correct?

This is fucking deplorable and anybody who is for it is a racist plain and simple. When it was "Mexico isn't sending us their best, it's sending us their rapists and drug dealers" it seemed as if, though still wrong and disgusting, at least they hid behind a facade of just keeping criminals away. Now it is just clearly all Mexicans, no matter what their circumstance is. It's fucking awful and it makes me sick.

It lets people who came here as children and graduated high school work legally and pay taxes, as opposed to being paid under the table with borrowed SSNs like the majority of illegal inmigrants do.

Manipulating an emotional response in place of a valid or compelling argument. We are discussing basic human compassion. Compassion is the topic, morality is the topic. You can use the same fallacy for explaining why there's no issue kicking my own children out of my house. And before you give me the false equivalence fallacy, that comparison was only meant to describe how bad your use of the Emotional fallacy is, not illegal immigrants.

I'd say it's more akin to dad scamming a bunch of money out of regular people and the kid, who was otherwise not involved, spending the knowingly stolen money on necessities for survival. It's a tricky area of morality and I personally would defer to the regular people who had their money stolen because they're the only party that isn't in the wrong in any way.

I would actually call it the opposite of a fallacy. In ethical matters like this, emotions are really the only way you can identify goals. After all, logic has no goal, so pure logic would let everybody die because it would cost less. Adult human decision-making involves a balance of emotional reactions and an overriding logic that is able to better accomplish what the emotional reactions wanted.

Appealing to goals is not a logical fallacy. It's a prerequisite for the logic.
(this doesn't apply to all appeals to emotion, naturally)

They're not doing any of that illegally.

But it will be fairly soon, because laws change. And when laws change, it becomes an issue of morality, rather than legality.

That 6 months better be used to pass RACA, because it was dumb of him to get rid of DACA without passing RACA first.

There's no "reward." They're getting a paycheck because they work hard, pay taxes and contribute to society.

You can talk about stealing jobs all you want, but unemployement in the US hasn't been lower than it is now since 2001. It has actually gone down since DACA was implemented. This isn't gonna move the needle, it benefits no one, and it's potentially life-ruining.

But I guess that's a fitting punishment for someone who didn't refuse to be brought over by his/her parents when they were a damn toddler.

There's genuinely no reasoning with these people.

They won't necessarily be booted out, since they're open to other permits.
