On the 1st and 16th of every month there is the Thai national lottery. Winning ticket is worth 6 million baht or about $200,000USD (there are usually around 30 winners each time).

A woman won yesterday and started celebrating with friends and family. Her sister was obviously jealous. The sister got her to go for a drive with her in her car. She then proceeded to drive extremely fast and some how opened the passenger door and shoved her sister out of the car causing her death. She then tried to take her lottery ticket and claim it.

I'll have to try and find an article in English. My wife was translating part of the Thai article so there is likely more to this.

Absolutely insane that you would murder your own blood over that. It could have been 200 million instead and it would still be beyond fucked up.

She could have at least paid someone else to kill her for her. Only costs about $50 to have someone killed if you know where to look (they live in the Northeast which is also the poorest region of the country by a large). That way it could just look like a robbery gone wrong.

I doubt she would have shared much if any of it. Thais will donate large portions of their money to the King or to Buddhist temples but most won't spend a single baht to try and help their neighbours.

That's more Cambodia than anything. Any guy who lives in Cambodia as an expat I don't think I could trust. Especially middle aged single men. Thailand has child prostitution problems but no where near on the level of some of their neighbours. And you'd have to go out of your way to find it here.

When I was in Siam Reap (where Angkor Wat is) I was offered sex with a child on more than one occasion. Including by a girl who couldn't have been more than 8 who came right up to me and offered to suck my dick for $10 (they use USD in Cambodia mostly). I've heard similar stories from others who went to Cambodia and the Philippines.

Dude, Cambodia is the same country where woman carry babies around all day while begging. Said babies are usually drugged with heroin or fed a bunch of vodka. It's to keep them from crying and sometimes ends up killing the baby and the woman will still carry that baby all day.

It was truly one of the most depressing places I've ever been. The average Cambodians are great but due to corruption and poverty gangs are allowed to act with impunity. Kids are used by gangs to try and swindle soft hearted foreigners. They have agreements with shop owners where a tourist will buy a product (usually powdered milk for babies) and after they leave, the gangs will sell it back to the shop.

Siam Reap is the kids. Phonm Penh is land mine victims with their faces melted off begging for money while you try and enjoy your meal.

Literally never paid for sex once in 4 years of travelling/living in Thailand. I came to backpack the first 2 times, travelled a large portion of Southeast/East Asia and spent 5 months training and competing in Muay Thai.

Unless you're a 50+ year old fat guy, you don't need to pay for sex in Thailand.
