Like Ugly Americans kind of? Or one of those "trying to be hip" shows that you either love or hate

I've never seen it

Honestly if you watch the first episode you'll have a pretty good idea what the show is about. Unfortunately imo the show is good in the first season but gets amazing in season 3, so people might miss out if they don't stick with it.

It's really hit or miss in my opinion. It's a lot of dry, dark humor.

Its a show that forgets its a comedy cartoon and ends up trying to do too much. Became really boring imo

I've never seen Ugly Americans but I've seen all of BoJack

it kinda gets passed up a lot because the first 6 episodes of season 1, while still good, are by far the weakest part of the entire series

it's kinda in the same vein as Arrested Development, except it's more explicitly bleak

imo it's the best currently airing comedy

drama/comedy

starts off as a typical adult comedy cartoon, but around the 5th or 6th episode of the first season there is a big tonal shift where things become darker and more dramatic and it stays that way for the whole series.

Comedy-wise it's fairly grounded and not too zany, although there are zany elements and characters, and it switches between funny moments and more emotional ones. Think of like an adult version of Arrested Development in terms of how it handles little details and continuity. Honestly you'd think this wouldn't work on a show about talking animals but it does.

Great show IMO. Very clever, very nuanced comedy and it's probably the best depiction of depression I've ever seen in any form of media. Just don't go in expecting a stoner comedy or something light hearted because as I said, it gets pretty fucking dark

It's a very funny show about a horse that sued to be a sitcom star in the 90s. Now he's washed up and trying to become relevant again because he thinks it'll help him to get over his depression and finally feel happy

The first season is just a generic "adult" cartoon up until the end, then season 2 comes in and blows your nips off with unexpected drama and feels and is one of the best seasons of television ever imo. Season 3 has the single best episode of the series to date, and arguably one of the best single television episodes of all time, but overall as a whole it's a bit weaker than season 2 imo, but that's a high bar for me.

I'd suggest pushing through the crummy first season if you can and then slowing down to enjoy season 2 and 3. It's a lot of dark humor and feelsy drama.

Like someone said, the first 6 episodes make the show feel like a generic Adult animated sitcom, it's only after the 7th episode that the show takes a sharp turn to be much more dramatic and it ends up being more dark humor. Of course you get your slapstick humor in there, but for the most part it's about depression and trying to find the thing that makes you happy.
