Toradora
Orange
My Little Monster
Say "I Love You"
A friend told me to watch Blue Spring Ride and I legit have no idea if I did. I remember the first episode but I don't know if that's all I saw or I just don't remember the series at all.

Not that many. I really liked GT and Toradora though.

I didn't like My Love Story.

I love all the ones you mentioned.

You should try "Waiting in the Summer"

Most of Golden Time was trash and just frustrating.

My Love Story is good.
I almost want to recommend that show about the underwater people, but it's too long and also frustrating.

My Love Story is good.

People keep saying Golden Time was trash because of that ghost dude.

frustrating makes it good because in the end the pay off is great.

The ghost was my least favourite part of GT because he's a little bitch, but the more "regular" parts were great. Like, the beach where they made the most of a really shitty start and the aftermath of the car accident were things I liked. I also enjoyed Koko's character development.

Golden Time pissed me off every single episode.

Fuck Tada, fuck Koko, fuck Linda, fuck Linda again, fuck that guy who never banged Oka Chan, fuck Linda, fuck the main cast for being pussies and not telling the tea club to go choke, fuck Linda, and fuck amnesia.

Golden Time sucks and the only reason it isn't complete trash is because every once in a while Nana would be a bitch to the people I hate.

Waiting in the Summer is a good show. You have to watch past the first episode though, it can give off the wrong impression.

If you're down with Yuri, I recommend Sasameki Koto. It's a short series, it's funny and cute without being pervy, and it's got a very clean, down-to-earth art style.

Golden Time is pretty dope. The setting is a bit non-standard, being set in college rather than high-school (so the characters have a life as adults outside of school), there are some pretty heartfelt twists, and while - as other people have mentioned - there is a supernatural twist that turns some people off, the payoff at the end of the series for that twist is fucking incredible.

I will say, though that the ending itself is a bit weak. But otherwise it's a surprisingly solid show - I downloaded an episode because it sounded like mediocre trash, back when I downloaded trashy-sounding anime for a laugh like a bad movie night, but it exceeded my expectations and I ended up watching the whole series. I like it more than Your Lie In April, though YMMV on that front.

Mallard's post pretty much sums up how I feel about Golden Time. All the discussion about it that I've read seems to be pretty hit-or-miss for a lot of people, though. The relationship starts pretty early on in the show, so it's more about how they develop through that relationship rather than them spending the whole series getting together and holding hands at the very end.

Your Lie In April

how did i forget this
I mostly just looked through my Crunchyroll viewing history, but I watched this one on Netflix so it didn't come to mind.

I also saw a bit of Scum's Wish on Prime, but I just couldn't get through it. It was way too depressing and I think I hated everyone.

I see. Thanks for the write-up. Do you have any other recs?
And I don't think it's too hard to be better than YLIA in the romance department. YLIA isn't even a romance... more a tragedy. I mean, not only do they never kiss, they don't even officially get together. Can't really call it a romance like that

Waiting In The Summer is a pretty good show, it's cheesy but it's good. The first episode comes off as kind of pervy, but it shapes up by the second episode. I've also heard good things about ToraDora, though I never finished the series (lost the subs I was using, felt weird about swapping over to another group).

Sasameki Koto is also a great yuri show as I mentioned. Clean, subdued art style, fairly short (too short, even, considering the manga - but if you dislike it, there's less to watch so you can knock it out in one go) and not a total perv show like Sakura Trick.

There's also Kimi ni Todoke, though I think I stopped being a big fan after I left high school.

I have not, but it can go on my list if you recommend it. Seems to be a bit longer than I'm used to.

I've put basically all the recommendations in this topic on a list. It should last me until the end of my romance media phase, which strikes about once a year. Golden Time was actually from last year or the year before when I asked for suggestions, actually >_> I just ended up putting it off.
