Aside from PC gamers due to the uniqueness of their setup, virtually everyone defaults to the same exact pose when they reach a hard or highly competitive part of a game - both feet on the floor, legs spread, arms braced on the legs, head down and forward. This one:

It's uncanny, because every gamer I've ever seen in person does it when things get intense.

While I assume I slouch forward, my legs don't have any definite pose. And even pc gamers slouch forward more when reaching intense moments afaik.

I definitely do it.

I have a recliner, and I tend to pop it up and sit with my legs up and my body tilted back when I'm casual gaming, but drop into the lean forward/wrists-on-knees position when I need to focus on a harder game.

Why? No idea, but it likely has to do with the position being more conducive to intense mental focus. Body posture in general can definitely effect moods and mental states.

I sit like that all the time anyways. I don't have great eyesight so if I'm leaning back playing, I feel like I'm missing some of the more obvious things.

Brings your eyes closer and aligns your body to engage an focus. It's probably based on some primal instincts for what it's worth. I remember in gym they were teaching a basic stance like that, knees slightly bent and arms up that allows you to be explosive in any direction, but it's sitting in that case.

I kind of have to do that when I use the computer, unless I'm sitting on the floor. This is what my PC set-up looks like that forces me to do that.

all I can say is it definitely helps i've forced myself to try and play through an intense fight on a fighting game while in a more relaxed position and it just felt so off and It was very obvious it was effecting my performance.
