First you shouldn't make up statistics that misrepresent the population. Second, things matter even if you don't think they do and vice versa. Third, how do you propose solving this illegitimacy problem that is apparently an issue that matters as opposed to monuments to traitors and banners against the Civil Rights movement?

Except literally nobody is making a national issue about illegitimacy...

In order to concentrate on multiple issues, you have to ACTUALLY CONCENTRATE on multiple issues.

I guess, if you want to pretend that railroads through mountains don't exist...

How is a railroad a symbol of Irish suffering?

Someone apparently didn't take history class.

Irish immigrants were indentured servants (i.e. slave labor) to the robber barons who built them. They were forced to work 16-hour days and handle unstable explosives, until they died in debt to said robber barons.

Or someone's history class was good enough to know that everyone was an indentured servant at one point (including the original african slaves, that when purchased, immediately had their status upgraded to indentured servant) and that the Irish's suffering as indentured servitude isn't categorically the same as the trans atlantic slave trade.

Irish suffering as indentured servants is discussed extensively in greivances related to colonialism.

If you want to bitch about how awful colonialism and indentured servitude is, I suggest you go do it in another thread where I will support you 100% and stop crapping up this thread with off topic shit.

why do that when the entire purpose was a roundabout way to tell Black people to STFU?

I don't need to go roundabout. Black people should shut the fuck up about slavery. White people fought and died to end it, but people who are asked to work a 40-hour week and pay for their own shit bitch about it.

those Irish indentured servants were not slaves. they were free to go after whatever contract was up.

They rarely lived to see the end of said contract.

Probably in the Civil War, the Spanish American War and WWI. Remember when the state sterilized Irish women while lying to them and saying they were performing a legit medical procedure? Dude, the statement you made that I quoted could not possibly be more incorrect. Whining about caps lock doesn't change that.

Black people didn't fight the Civil War to help the Irish, and Irish servitude sure as shit didn't end with it, either.

If you have a problem with how black people have been treated in this country, look at Democrats, and realize that Democrats built their power on slavery, Jim Crow, and segregation. They only supported the Civil Rights Act to regain control of black people, and proudly owned that fact in the '60's.

Ok, so before racism was enforced by the government, then racism was opposed by the government.

Lets take a look at today. Lets assume that the government is virtually nonexistent. So now the government is not saying that I don't have civil rights, but they're also not saying that I do have civil rights.

And if the government isn't saying that I have civil rights, then who is?

I have him tagged as "makes shit up." you look at his posting history and he's constantly making unsubstantiated statements.

to be fair to him, this is something of a popular myth among conservatives; it originated in the early-mid 90s with this guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Kessler who is a conservative journalist

Yup, that's similar info to what I found about his argument. I don't think he makes shit up, I think he's just SO DEEP in his conservative bubble that he doesn't realize the reality of certain situations. Probably has parents who taught him this bullshit from a young age, OR his parents were super liberal and he went full conservaderp in rebellion.

I'm a Libertarian. Why are you ALWAYS wrong?

But, from a perspective of self-interest, the GOP IS bad for poor white people.

maybe -- but not because they were trying to court those voters

When a CEman spends all day shitting on liberals and creating arguments based on unsubstantiated quotes...but never does the same toward conservatives, and then calls himself a "libertarian," it's basically code for "I don't want to admit I'm a conservative." You're like Mal_Fet, but an actual human.

I'm not trying to defend him or saying I believe him (I don't recognize him at all) but I've had plenty of people say this about me when in reality they just avoid conservative topics or don't pay attention to my comments in them.

Like I said though, I don't recognize the user at all so this was actually a pretty pointless post now that I realize it.
