When I learned that No Child Left Behind was designed to punish schools that do poorly
When I learned that a US government class is not required by every US county for their students When I learned that you don't even have to take biology or chemistry in some schools If we know nothing about how the system works, then we can't affect the system. Don't know how to navigate the political world or how to consume media in a smart fashion Then you don't know how to digest all the politics coming through your TV and you'll end up just being brainwashed --- im a good person ... When 9/11 happened NCLB was one of the first pieces of legislation Congress pushed through in the guise of "well we have to do something to show we're still functional"
Were the US not in turmoil at that time, someone might have noticed that NCLB would be punishing schools that are doing poorly.... schools that are doing poorly probably aren't going to get better, and realized that most schools with poor marks are probably from high population density, low income areas So the poor get fucked and the rich stay the course --- im a good person ... How is biology or chemistry going to improve a kids life? Unless they have an interest in it all you are doing is wasting people's time
Instead of telling children what they need to learn how about giving them the basics (reading and writing) and letting them learn what they want to learn about? Some kid who doesn't give a shit about science isn't going to all of a sudden get a huge interest in a field and pursue it. 50% of what public schools teach is either patently false or irrelevant and the other 50% is pretty much forgotten. Most people I meet can't even do 5th grade mathematics unless they're job is a lot easier with a formula. And the saddest part is the untrue things taught often stick people's memory the longest --- ^_^ ... Copied to Clipboard!

you can call it a troll topic if you want but it sounds like you're just having a hard time accepting the truth
you need a wide breadth of subjects to draw from and learn skills from crippling overspecialization is what you'd call someone who only learns calculus and forgets how to read history just because you specifically have never run into a situation where hot oil is flaming and you need to put it out doesn't mean others don't encounter that situation and benefit from knowing you're not supposed to pour water into the thing --- im a good person ... 1) some of the worst behaved students i've ever seen. The shit you guys get away with is ridiculous. No discipline among a lot of students. Because teachers aren't paid enough or trained enough to deal with the massive number of kids Also many classrooms are overfilled and underfunded, because of the massive damage that NCLB caused. Even today. WhinyZach posted... 2) so many fat and lazy kids. In gym class even the "athletes" in football and basketball were fat.
