I'll be doing lucky if I even *some* money by that point, let alone a "shit load".

In fact, I'm pretty sure being married and having children is a great way to *not* ever have a shit load of money because one burned it all on them, and to which there's no guarantee they won't just abandon their husband/father in some nursing home once he's penniless and infirm. (Assuming of course they don't have some hefty life insurance on him anyway, in which case "clumsy old daddy" suddenly takes a spill down a flight of stairs instead.)

One is severely and grossly over-estimating the trust one can put in their spouse and kids these days.

Nobody said anything about being unable to speak. If you're in such bad shape that you're unable to speak, you'll likely be in a hospital or hospice with professional care regardless of whether or not you have kids so the topic becomes a moot point.
